Trip to Rishikesh

Sometimes I plan and sometimes it happens by chance, I would never like to miss an oppurtunity to visit a place which i had never been to And it so happened last weekend I got chance to visit beautiful Hilly City Rishikesh In India Although i was invited in friends gathering at Haridwar, around 30 miles from Rishikesh, I somehow managed time to visit this place

Yoga at RishikeshBeautiful ganges flows down the city, with two beautiful bridges on top of it. namely Ram Jhula and Laxman Jhula, I could see fishes from the bridge, such is the clarity of water.

I was rather surprised to see the number of foriegn tourists in the area, although Rishikesh is a prominent pilgrim place in hindu religion, so i was expecting lots of pilgrims but to find so many tourist it was just surprising experience. But sooner i realised that Rishikesh has been popular as yoga and meditation centre in past some years, and i could find many institutes also. Also lots of adventure sports activity taking place in Rishiskesh specially white water rafting, trekking to himalyan ranges.

I didnt had much time to spend there but i had my camera with me (which is always with me during any trip) so i could manage some shots for you all guys.. check them at http://www.flickr.com/photos/travinfoindia/

INDIA - "The Taj Mahal" - our trip report........

This is a trip report about India. My wife and I just returned from a month trip to Rajasthan and loved every minute of it. It was our dream to be there at least once but finally we found this country so different and interesting to come back again some time.

I did a search for our trip via the internet and came up with a variety of in-country travel specialists. After reading all info and checking prices etc, decided to go with Mr. Raju www.rajuindia.com and so glad that I did.

I did use the message board on many other forums to see if any one else had used this travel specialist and how surprising that I got many responses from the people who has been traveled with him. Raju gave me few addresses of his previous traveled clients from States and it was really helpful for me to mail them and get all the practical information. Personally he helped me lot to plan my route.

What is special about Rajuindia.com is that the trip is planned with your ideas. Raju and I traded emails for more then a month or so before I decided on the trip I wanted. My husband and I had our own driver, Mr. Ugam who was wonderful so we could go and do as we wished.

It was almost our one month trip and he plan a special route for us. We start our trip from Delhi then by train to Amritsar ( Golden temple) our driver was waiting for us there at the train station, next destination was Bikaner by car – Jaisalmer ( Thar desert) – jodhpur – Luni – Ranakpur beautiful Jain temples – Udaipur – Khempur ( one of the most authentic non touristy village where we enjoy lot and like the most, we never heard about this place but it was Raju’s recommendation to stay at least one night there) – Pushkar -Ranthambhore national park ( we were lucky to see tigers first time in our life) – Jaipur – Agra ( the Taj Mahal, its so beautiful) – Gwalior fort – Orchha – Khajuraho ( kamasutra temples ) – next day we took flight to Varanasi ( so different then any other town of India, quite different feeling, we had great experience to see all the ghats on Ganges by boat) – Train to Delhi in first class air-con cabin.

All the arrangements like hotels, safaris, boating in Ganges, train, flight, assistance…..everything was perfect. It was nice to deal with so professional people like Raju. He is honest and professional. It was surprising to know that his working team over hundred people to organize all the tours.

Anyway!!! I love this trip!

We did a mix of adventure with big cities to small places and it was a wonderful, interesting blend.

I want to return next years and use www.rajuindia.com again. He was gracious enough to meet with us in Jaipur but as I saw he is quite busy person.

We were never sick, ate everything with no problems and had the best time. Sure there is poverty and dirt and many other things may be you don’t like but it is one fascinating country so if you have thought about it ...just go!

Wish you all the best.

Bon Voyage.
