Nice place for honeymoon in Europe

Nice place for honeymoon in Europe

I asked a friend of mine where is a nice place for Honeymoon and she answered me right away, to Paris - The Land of the Lovers.... have you heard of this? Is it really true that Paris is a nice place for honeymoon in Europe? What are your choices?

of course i heard that

of course i heard that before, everyone says "paris" for Honeymoon - thats why you have to mortage your house for a 1-week stay in a paris hotel.

maybe you can stay at euro disney, close to paris and probably cheaper (just because its impossible to find some more expensive place than paris) :)

Paris is nice, but I wasn't

Paris is nice, but I wasn't exactly blown away by it either. I think there are a lot more destinations I'd consider first (maybe some warm island or some nice place in Portugal).

I mean you should have seen Paris but I don't know if I'd want to spend more than a couple of days there.

As the guy without brakes already said, the value of the dollar in Paris is really not that great.

I am also thinking that it

I am also thinking that it greatly depends on what kind of atmosphere the honeymooners would like to have.

Different places project different atmospheres and thus, the honeymooners are the best people to decide for themselves. It may or may not be Paris. It may be somewhere else...

Well, you don't have to

Well, you don't have to mortage your house to come to Croatia. It's pretty cheap and there are lot of romantic places to visit. For example, Dubrovnik.

I have heard good stories about Croatia. I know some people who went there for vacation and they were totally thrilled. Its a jewel that not many people know about.

Maybe you could split your

Maybe you could split your time between a city and a country destination.  Paris and Provence, for instance.

Or consider Italy, not just Rome, Venice, and Florence, but the Cinqueterre or Lake Como.  Italy, though, will be more expensive than France.

You should also consider the time of year and how crowded a place will be.  I've only visited some cities in the very, very off season.   For some reason I have ended up in Europe in November three times, once by choice.  My image of Paris is of empty drizzly streets with bare chestnut trees along the Seine.  It's beautiful, but I'm sure it is totally different in the summer with tourist crowds and lines.

I’m sure that Honeymoon

I’m sure that Honeymoon is not for big cities, but for a quiet romantic nook somewhere near the sea, in the nature… And then a little bit traveling would be ok!

The warm weather and lovely beaches of the canaries is the perfect place to go for me. Consider in particular the Tenerife island. You can both enjoy the sun and the sandy beach at daytime and party all night. There are more to see in the island that you and your husband will definitely love. Check out this Tenerife Travel Guide for an extensive collection of amenities and romantic places to go in the island.

Check out Greece

I suggest you check out Greece, if you haven't yet. It's a magical place and perfect for a Honeymoon. Most people like to visit one or more of the islands, but I also liked the mainland with Delphi and Athens.

I suggest St. Petersburg

I suggest St. Petersburg Russia.

It's beautiful, historic and somewhat unusual.

Honeymoon places

Paris definitely has a special cachet and is worth seeing, but I agree that it's very expensive. Bruges, in Belgium, is very romantic and quaint and more affordable.  You may not float along the Seine, but you can get a canal cruise and see cobblestone streets and medieval buildings.  It has been called the "Venice of the North."

Seville Spain

I like Spain a lot. The relaxed atmosphere, friendly people and sunny climate make it a perfect destination. It's location in southern Spain, not too far from the Mediterranian Sea is perfect. Its archictural highlights and festivals can make the time fly and the food is good too.

Hi Helen,

Although, I had my own honeymoon nearly 27 yrs ago in Italy, I'm partial to the beauty of Germany because I lived there for 3 yrs and was married there. Try staying in a castle. There are many castles to choose from the many distinct regions of Germany. Frankly, I love all the areas because it has a diversity of its own.

Tenerife for Honeymooners

We spent our Honeymoon in Tenerife and couldn't have been happier. I guess it depends what you are looking for. Tenerife is great for the the beaches, resorts and natural scenerey. Paris is certainly beautiful as well, in other ways (architecture, the arts and of course, wine!). Checkout Google or Flickr for photos of the Canaries and Paris and you'll see what I mean.

Honeymoons

The original post was some time ago, but I suppose still relevant to people looking on the site, so my own personal suggestion is Italy.Home to the most romantic and suggestive places on earth. Venice - no where like it, to Rome, city of the ancients. Florence however is the jewel in the crown as far as I am concerned - very romantic city, full of Rennaissance art. Worth staying in a villa oustide the city and making day trips from there to Florence and other cities in Tuscany. http://www.qualityvillasitaly.co.uk

Paris, yes of course! But have you considered Cracow/Poland? This city has its unique, romantic atmosphere, you can walk by the moonlight by the Vistula River, and Kazimierz District is full of small, cozy pubs and restaurants, perfect place for a date! There are many good places to stay for night in this city, but I recommend you Aston Hostel, which is a lovely, small place, situated nearby the city centre with friendly staff and cozy rooms. :)
