Maps

With the existence of online maps and the like, which would you prefer nowadays to use, the usual paper map and if not, what kind of map do you like to use now?

As for me, I still like to use the usual and oldie brochure type of map coz it is good to be able to bring it with me anywhere coz I am a person with almost no sense of direction, I easily get lost and I would find it helpful.

i guess you were also reffering to digital maps, paper maps is a must have when going to strange places. digital might draw the wrong attension to you.

Both are valid points,

Both are valid points, however displaying a map (digital or paper) in a foreign and strange place is never a good idea, since you will be spottet as a tourist even faster.

For that matter having a small GPS map with you might be better, since you know right away where you are on the map and you don't have to stand around long to study it.

I have come to appreciate the digital mapping features quite a lot (I even wrote a tutorial about it: GPS Tutorial).

I meant those little gps

I meant those little gps devices with rudimentary mapping functionality. Not always the best choice, but sometimes they can be quit helpful.

Sort of a pocket navigation system.

even with your gps do you have any back up, in any case your gps goes awol.
