Moving to Indonesia
If you are planning to move to Indonesia either to live or because of work the following documents are required by Indonesian Customs to clear shipments into Indonesia:
For Foreigners:
- Original passport with 12 month visa validity for both husband and wife.
- If shipper is not married, a statement to this effect must be obtained from the Embassy concerned in Jakarta.
- Original KITAS card for both husband and wife (formerly called KIM/S), which is the residence permit, with a 12 month validity.
- Original work permit with 12 month validity
- Complete inventory listing
- Original Bill of Lading or Airway Bill.

I have acquired a retirement visa and as of 3 weeks I am somewhat settled in Bali.
I am trying to find in writing information regarding duty and tax. I was under the impression that this government offered a one time shipment of used household/personal effects without duty if done within 90 days of receiving a retirement KITAS. Is this true? And where can I find this in writing; I have searched much. Maybe I missed a place.
Can anyone help?
I was wondering..if a tourist married a local in the area, would he/she be granted citizenship in the country?
