See the difference to your posts is that you have the URL in the signature and don't just ramble about how good your site is. (We all know mine is the best anyways )
Better yet, searching for the footprint of his post shows that he posted this to several other travel forums.
Its sufficient to block anyone from submitting hyperlinks until they have gained some trust (e.g. the userpoints or a certain number of posts required). That will make it much less appealing.
For those (untrusted) accounts one can easily strip out any url reference.

we should develop a script to kill spammers and there sites.

yes blocking links until after 10 or 50 post sounds like a really good mod to implement.
do you know a mod or something for phpbb? just ask because i could need it for my backpacker forum ;)
I stay away from mainstream BB software. The other day i ran across a program that was designed to auto create logins and post in phpBB.
phpBB is the Windows of bulletin boards.
