what are you talking about going backpacking? or just to go on a vacation.
Not backpacking but going on a vacation, somewhere outside of their own country. Which country could you think of?
The good usa is always a good choice, then again i know a few Australians that are currently traveling over Europe and they use the uk as a based to make money and travel on to different European countries.
I think you can go everywhere, even with children, if you make the proper arrangements. I wouldn't go trekking in the jungle with a two year old, but there are other things to do. Otherwise I think children are pretty resilient (more than most of us adults would admit). They may complain more but they can take some hardship (just my opinion).
Just keep in mind Children cannot walk as far as you (trekking) can not run as fast (running away from danger?) and need more sleep and regular food.
