Learning Chinese Language
I have had Chinese officemates, Chinese co-teachers but until now, I just couldn't speak this language. It seems to be very difficult to pronounce their words and the stress is also very difficult for me to learn.
Anybody here who has experienced learning the language in whatever way? Care to share?

Oh, how nice of you to offer this Yee, I am noting down your email add. Thanks!
I think Chinese would be one of the hardest languages to learn to speak. Best of luck to you, I hope you have great success.
Thanks for the offer, cdhostel! I would like to learn a foreign language when I am almost travelling to a place where that language will be used. Otherwise, I will tend to forget that language because it is not practiced.
This is lucy, i am a native chinese speaker and i think when you learn some foreign language, you must pay attention to listen and pratice after you take classes or others. u know, for a language, if you can not speak out, it means nothing!
now i am helping others in practicing chinese online, you can click this link to know more about me http://www.echineseonline.com/j.do?sid=aabb&type=1, and you can also get a free face-on-face trial after you sign up.
Thanks, Lucy. I visited the site and it looks like it is going to be really great for those who are eager to learn and have no native speaker to talk to.
I also admire you for writing very good English even if you're a native Chinese.
I'm practically tone deaf, so a tonal language would be impossible for me. However, I was once told that it is a lot easier if you work on learning the different tones and sounds without any words first, then start the language. The idea is that new words, new grammar, new stress, new sounds, and tones are really too much to take in at one time.
Yes I have always heard that Chinese is indeed a very difficult language to learn. If you ask me, what makes is difficult is becuase their language is tonal. A slight shift of tone could give the word an entirely different meaning. They are also very particular with pronunciation. Good luck with your chinese, I hope you get the hang of it soon!
I don't think so because her email address was typed in lower case.
Well, some people do think that caps lock is cruise control for cool. Other than that, some may not know about proper net etiquette.
I'm learning japanese now but I have recently realized that if I just wanted to learn a new language, I'm better off with French or Spanish than Japanese or Chinese. Learning a new set of alphabet (characters) makes it more difficult. Good luck with the Chinese, but as for me, I'd shift to Spanish!
