Travelling with a young child
I will be bringing my son who is only over a year old to our hometown by next month and this will be his first airplane ride. However, since he's just learning to walk, I am afraid that he might be 'showing off' his being a child and he might make the other passengers miserable. Any advice on how to deal with any problems that might arise?

I've heard that if you have a child this young, you should give them a bottle at take off and landing time so they will swallow to help keep the pressure from building up in their ears. As for him wanting to walk, well... you're probably in for a not so pleasant flight. You know, for his safety, you really can't let him walk around on the plane. So he's probably not going to be happy. And, he's going to probably share his unhappiness with everyone else on your flight. All I can suggest is bring along some toys to try to occupy his mind. Good luck to you!!
Thanks for the tip about the bottle for the ear pressure, Marsha. I have completely forgotten about that and you're right, I must bring with me some of the things and toys that would keep him occupied.
My 3 year old felt very grown up with her very own carry on, and both children were very excited about their new toys. They occupied themselves quite nicely with a bag of colorful, squishy animals and a tube with 4 small containers of Play Doh.
