According to a recent discussion, we have decided to enable revenue sharing on this website. This means you can earn money by contributing to the travel articles.
Currently we have set the revenue sharing to 50%. This means you can earn 50% of the revenue of advertisements displayed on an article you wrote. The way this works is very simple. 50% of the time someone views the article written by you, your adsense code is being used to display the ads. The earnings will then automatically go to your adsense account. The other 50% will be used to finance the operation of this site.
Rules
Google has very strict rules on adsense advertisements and we request that you read their Terms of Service and fully comply with them. Any violation we can detect from our side will result in a suspension of your account and removal of your adsense code. We will also fully comply with Googles requests of removal, so make sure to play by the rules.
We decided to enable revenue sharing to be able to give something back for the hard work of our community. You should not submit articles just for the sake of creating adsense revenue. That means all articles must be written natural and read well. Articles should also not be a sales pitch for a product or a website of yours (we do encourage to use links below the article and in some instances inside to give credit to a writer).
All articles must be original and written by you. This website is not a free article database.
Articles that are simply duplicates of other articles on another website are not qualified for adsense revenue sharing. This means you cannot simply copy an article from one of the many free sources and claim it to be yours and receive revenue. We will check all articles for duplicate content (e.g. using copyscape and other competent services).
Driving Visitors
In order to increase revenue, you can help by driving visitors to your article.
Use the url of your article in your signature on your email account
Use the url of your article in your signature on forum postings
If you have a website, link to your article to increase visibility for search and drive visitors
If you are part of a social website (myspace, friendster ....), link your article on your profile.
There are many ways to drive visitors. The most important thing is not to click on your own ads and not to ask anyone to do so. Google will detect any unnatural behavior and get your account as well as ours banned. Any infringement on their ToS on your side will be dealt with swiftly. Please read their requirements carefully.
Fun
As always, we should have fun here. So go and have fun and if you turn a penny along the way, why not.
With some outside help, the revenue sharing has been set up properly and works nicely. Unfortunately it also requires us to switch of the internal caching system of this site which will put more strain on our server.
I have re-enabled the cache, but I have set it to expire after 60 minutes. I think this is a good tradeoff between functionality and update frequency of the Adsense ID's.
So when someone views your article for the first time, the Adsense ID will be generated (50% probability its either yours or ours). This ID will stick with the article for 60minutes. After that, the arbitration starts again when someone views the node. Over a longer time, this will result in 50/50 revenue splitting, without affecting the site performance too much.
Good news. I have enabled the revenue sharing for images. You may know this (or not) but if you create a book page, you can also upload some of your photographs to be shown in the article. These photos are automatically being put in a gallery.
Now if someone views your picture in the gallery, your ad gets the same chance of being seen .
Here are some more tips:
The image galleries are being picked up by google images. If you give your image a meaningful Heading and write one or two lines in the description there is a greater chance for the bots to pick it up and rank it. Otherwise search engines don't have much to go on.
The alt tag of the image is the same as the heading.
The url where your image can be found will also be determined by the heading. So the heading is the single most important thing here, as we all know that Search Engines pay a lot of attention towards the url.
When you insert an image in your book page, make sure you insert a thumbnail. It will automatically be linked to the image page.
Put your post in a forum signature for people to see.
Never violate any of the Adsense Terms or your code will be removed (can't take any chances here).
Make sure the images are yours. Don't violate anyones copyright. If you are caught your image is removed along with your adsense id. The images should be either taken by you or you should have the permission of the photographer. A great place for finding "free" images is this site: http://www.sxc.hu/. Registration is fee and images are free, but some of them require the photographers consent so make sure you obey the rules.

Great job, I attempted that on one of my websites, failed miserably but I may have to do something with the Revenue Sharing!
