I am using Site5 for my hosting needs. Their performance is excellent. There was a short period of server load issues, but they have added a lot of hardware and all bottlenecks are gone again. I was very impressed about how fast they reacted. The link above is an affiliate link!
I also hear good things about Bluehost. I have no personal experience with them.
with site5 isnt it a bit risky tohave a two year hosting contract with them, if they dont work out well after the 60 days, will you still be able to get back some of your money. are you on a yearly contract with site5
I completely agree with you. I am on a 3 month contract. It costs a little bit more, but the flexibility is worth it to me. With my last webhost I was on a prepaid plan and it is still active. I forefeited 9 months. I could have cancelled, but there was a fee (early termination).
Anyways, I would also recommend to go for the 3 month plan, even though it is more expensive.
I checked your site and it was down yesterday. I guess you better get into gears switching.
My advice above is simply from heresay and experience (S5). But I recommend you do some research before making the decision. Everyone has a different experience.
Sign-up with the following webhosting company, pay only $1.00 for your domain name for one year and $29.85 for webhosting for 3 months. Register and pay with your credit card. Right after, you will be refunded. It leaves you practically paying nothing. Check it out at:
no-brakes: I am convinced you cannot find a good host for $5/mo. Somehow they have to make money and this means they will pack a lot of people onto one server.

$29 is a lot to pay for only three month. what i am really looking for is a reliable host. have you ever considered hosting your website my yourself.
I have considered it callis, but there are a couple of obstacles. First of all, if you need something reliable, don't go for a host with $5/mo. It is well worth the invenstment if your site runs smooth. If your side is down, a potential new users might never see it!
As for hosting on your own:
If your site goes down, chances are you will miss it. If you are on vacation, nothing you can do about it. If your ISP disconnects, your site goes down.
Do the math and calculate the bandwidth. The upload speed on DSL really isn't that great. Check out how much a T1 line costs you. Its insane.
Basically ordering the same bandwidth to your home costs insane amounts of money. Webhosts usually have a co-location right with the telecom providers (means they don't have to run expensive fiber elsewhere).
Then consider security and updates. I have thought about what to do when this site grows very fast and I have decided to go with managed hosting instead of colocation, simply because I don't think its worth to save a few dollars and having to manage my servers all the time, install security updates ....
I think most people underestimate what it takes to run a succesful webhost.
Site5 is currently running a special that I believe is well worth its money.
6 Full sites, 15GB space, 1TB bandwidth, unlimited Domains, FTP, Mysql ...for $99/yr (or $8.25/mo)
I have been with them for a while and they have been exellent. You may be able to find a cheaper price from companies like Dreamhost, but I doubt they can deliver the performance of Site5.
Anyways, the decision is up to you. Try not to be too cheap or you will regret it.
Thanks for all the suggestions Guys, choosing a web host is one of the most difficult thing, as every web host has their share of problems. The think about site5 is that since recently they have been having a few problems here and i hate the fact that they are trying so hard to tie you down to a longer contract. Right now i am thinking of using hostgater but they also have their share of problems.

29$ for 3 months seems not quite cheap to me...? afaik you can get good hosting for 5$/month.

Sit5 had their share of problems but they got over it. I am on a 3 month contract with them too.
I have read some really good reviews on Bluehost. You might want to check them out too.
