Croc hunter Steve Irwin killed
Steve Irwin, the ebullient Australian TV personality and conservationist known as the Crocodile Hunter, has been killed by a stingray barb to the heart during a diving expedition. have you ever heard of him, he is quite famous here in the uk, so i was shocked when i found this article on aol saying he is dead, you can read more here, i am shocked as i always thought he was a lovely guy.

Who hasn't heard of him! He is/was famous all over the world. If you ask me, he was begging for being killed by some animal.
I remember when he fed a crocodile with his right hand while holding his new born baby son on his left arm. People in Australia and Germany started protesting so they stopped broadcasting the show.
the people in the uk were also very upsetting about that little incident, but gfor heaven sake it is his child if his wife allow him to do that why holding there child why should the world be protesting about it, well anyone dying is a unfortunate event and iit is kind of sad as he died leaving a young wife and two young kids.
Yes this is so sad. I havnt long visited his park The Australian Zoo.
Australia Zoo is a small, primarily reptile, zoo at Beerwah in Queensland. It is owned by the Irwin family; the late Steve Irwin and his widow Terri Irwin, whose wildlife documentary series The Crocodile Hunter made the zoo a popular tourist attraction.
Although best known for the crocodiles and the live crocodile feedings, the zoo is also known for featuring exhibits of other Australian wildlife, including Asian otters, koalas, wombats, Tasmanian devils, snakes, and (until 2006) a giant Galapagos tortoise called Harriet, which was generally acknowledged as the world's oldest living animal when it died on June 23, 2006, at the age of 176.[1]
Australia Zoo was named as one of Australia's Best Major Tourist Attraction for 2003-2004.
It is so sad. We actually got to meet him while we where at the park. He has a lovely family he is leaving behind. It has been said We are going to give him a State Funeral.
I saw the news this morning on TV. I can't believe it. This guy did so many dangerous stunts and died from a freak accident like this.
They said a stingray pierced his heart with its stingy tail. What are the odds.
I loved watching his shows too.

Yes he was swimming on top of a stingray when it's tail hit him in the chest. Steve Irwin pulled it out himself and died almost straight away. There is even talk about people wanting to show the tape of his death on tv. The whole thing was recorded on camera. I think this would be a terriable thing to see. What about his wife and kids. The Queensland Government has offered to give him a state funeral.
What a terrible thing to happen. I used to watch his shows and I still cannot believe that he is gone by such a freaky accident.
I have always thought that this guy is crazy, but I would never have thought he'd die from the sting of a ray.
I am not sure I want to see his death on camera either.
it is reallly shocking i feel like i know the guy, someone said that everyone knows who steve irwin is but no one has a clue who the PM of austrialia is, which is so true, i am still in shock, you would neve think he would go out that way.
On the other hand, thats the way to go for a guy like him. Don't get me wrong, it is always a tragedy if someone dies a unnatural death, but then again, I am sure he would not have wanted to die in his bed. Its sad for his family and for the rest of the world who enjoyed his adventures.
I wish his family all the best, most of all piece and quiet to deal with their loss. Hopefully the media will be respectful towards them.
I also hope they do not show his death on TV, although I have my doubts since they are all after good ratings.
May Steve rest in piece.
This was just so sad. I feel really bad for his wife and his two small children. Hopefully his death wasn't too painful, I'd hate to think he suffered a lot. I'm guessing if he had to pick a way to go, he would probably choose to exit this world while doing something he loved to do. Still, it's very sad.
Here are a couple of videos about Steve.
A memorial video:
I like this one (funny tribute):
A newscast about him:
The second one reminds me a lot of his movie "Collision Course". It was very funny to watch.
I've heard they've asked his wife permission to show the film of when the stingray got him. I think he'd want it shown. He died filming this, if it's never shown then he died he for nothing. At least that's how I think he'd see it. I believe his wife was as much about wildlife as he was, so I think she'll give them permission.
Steve was finaly buried on Saturday evening at sunset in the Australian Zoo. It was a private family and close friends most Australian's didnt know it was happening. There will be a public memerial in Brisbane next week when they find a venue big enough to fit all the people that are thought to attend. It will be big.
I am glad they chose to lay him to rest with his zoo. I think he would have liked the choice.
they were showing his program here all day yesterday, it was so sad watching it . it good that they have decided to put him to rest in his zoo.
What does "crikey" mean? We don't use that expression here, but Steve used it all the time. Is that some Australian thing for saying amazing or something similar?
Andre
Crikey to me means something like Gee wize. Do you have that saying. Or maybe just Gee. And yes it is just an Australian slang word. It could also mean Wow
3000 tickets where given away to the public for a public send off for Steve. It is being held next Wednesday at the Australian Zoo. People apparently slept at the Zoo gates to get tickets for it for two days.
That means I wasn't too far off with what I thought. Thanks for the explaination.
I can understand the interest in this. Hope everything goes well.
Andre
They are already showing clips on the news channels it is really touching.
I could not believe it when I heard it. I liked him I watched his show all the time. I think that he will really be missed and never forgotten.
I am still wondering when they will show his last movie. Has the footage been released already?

The last I heard, the footage was viewed by the officials investigating Irwin's death and then either destroyed or turned over to his family who have chosen to keep it private. I wouldn't want to see it anyway. Watching a man I admired killed so senselessly is about t he last thing I want to do.
I had always hoped to visit the Australia Zoo and see the croc hunter in person one day. Even though he's gone, I still want to visit the zoo if I ever make it to Australia. I hope it continues running smoothly without his strong personality to guide it.
