Spending New Years Eve in Sydney

Spending New Years Eve in Sydney

We have just booked a luxury Cruise on a catamaran in Sydney Harbour this year for New Year's Eve. I cant wait. Sydney Harbour is the perfect place to be for the New Year's Eve celebrations. You can Usher in the new year in style and experience the breathtaking views of the New Year's Eve fireworks display. Cruising magnificent Sydney Harbor aboard the luxurious Lady Rose catamaran, is a New Year's Eve you will never forget! The fire works in Sydney on New Years Eve are said to be the best in the world. I have only watched them from a distance before so this year should be so exciting.

Summer

I keep forgetting that New Years is in Summer for you.

Isn't it a bit early to book a luxury cruise? Or are these selling out so fast? I wasn't even thinking about New Years yet Smile

No not to early over here

No not to early over here as these cruises get booked out really fast. Some even are booked out already. A lot of people book from one year to the next to get on the cruise they want. Is it cold at Christmas over there? We have really hot Christmas's over here in Australia. Christmas day is normally spent around the pool with a cold Christmas lunch.

Sounds absolutely

Sounds absolutely heavenly.  New years eve for me will be just another day.  My husband always has to work on holidays, so we'll be asleep way before midnight.  Man, I'm a boring person.

You should go out with friends or does your hubby object to you having some fun on your own? I think you shouldn't sit home alone while he is away. Go out and get drunk at some party. Careful!, you may actually be having fun Wink

Luxury?

Only the luxury cruises or all of them?

It's quite funny. I grew up with white christmas. We always had christmas dinner warm and plenty and we used to have Gluehwein after being outside in the snow.

Gluehwein - its a spicy wine that you drink hot, its a christmas speciality where I come from, quite good!

No not only luxury cruises.

No not only luxury cruises. You will find it hard to get on any cruiese around New Years Eve and Christmas on Sydney Harbour unless you have booked a head. It is very popular. Unless you are lucky enough of course to own your own boat. That would be great. I have always wanted a white Christmas maybe one day I will have to plan a Christmas away. But I love spending Christmas with the family and kids. It is my favourite part of the year.

i guess sydney is even more

i guess sydney is even more expensive at this time of the year...?

when i was in coffs harbour they had "NO ALCOHOL" all over the party place, fireworks started at 10.30pm and you only realized that it was 2005 because all the bars and pubs arround the marina closed at 12.

it was nice because i was there with some friends, but very boring compared to all the other new year partys i had been before.

Are you from Coffs Harbour

Are you from Coffs Harbour no brakes? I have been to Coffs Harbour on a number of holidays I really like it. One holiday I remember was with a very special person we had a terrific time.

no, but i worked there for

no, but i worked there for 3 or 4 months. its a nice place, try to go there again and visit some people within the next months. have you been at "the big banana"? :)

Yes I have been to the Big

Yes I have been to the Big Banana. And I have been to Coffs Harbour a lot. My first love was in Coffs Harbour so it has some really good memories for me. Have you been to the Dolphin Pool and show?

New years Eve in Sydney is

New years Eve in Sydney is a lot of fun, especially if you are anywhere near the harbour. If you can brave the streets in the City that looks like a pretty big party. Last year we were at a mates place on the finger wharves - awesome view. Walking to the train, the streets were absolutely packed with people. Great atmosphere!

Are firecrackers legal in

Are firecrackers legal in Australia?

Once I was in Germany for New Years and everyone had a huge pack of firecrackers and rockets.

They were legal until a

They were legal until a short time ago. Luckily I still have a lot left over :D

Surprised Now I am curious. What does it take?

It's my first day on these

It's my first day on these forums and already I'm being asked how to make fireworks :)

Metal pipes and sparklers, thats all I'm saying :)

add 50kg plutonium and you

add 50kg plutonium (keep away from kids and animals) and you can upgrade your firecracker to a thermonuclear home defence system Laughing

Fireworks are illigal now

Fireworks are illigal now unless you have a permit. But a lot of people get away with it. We are actually having fireworks tonight at out towns carol's by candlelight but of course they are run by a legal company. Do you all have Carol's by candlelight in your countries?

What?

The Fireworks on Sydney Harbour this year where great. Although I think I really liked last years better. This year it was the 75th anniversary so the theme was based around that.

Gorgeous

Wow. What a nice photo. I bet the celebration was a blast. Funny, but when I got up that day, you already were in 2007. I bet those cruises are hell of expensive.
