I admire the admins and mods of this forum, they are always alert and on the lookout for spammers!
This is one of the best forums that I have joined because of this. In some of the forums I have joined, spammers are almost everywhere especially if the forum is not well moderated.
I really appreciate it, especially since it is a bit of a challenge. The best thing is if noone replies, then I can wipe out the whole thread (I am not deleting posts of regular members).
At some point I will need to get some help from people in different time zones to catch these guys faster (I need to sleep and work sometimes). -- Actually Sunflower sometimes helps out. I gave her admin rights.
It also pays off not to use mainstream forum software (lots of spam comes from robots, they don't know how to handly this forum).
well i know the problem with spam in mainstream forums (you re talking about phpbb, right?), but you can easy get arround if you know some php (rename the form fields or site names for example - have to do this if im bored :) ). the other thing is that most users instantly can feel like home because they know hot to use it from other sites. with this strange cms here i still dont know where i can find all the postings i made, or why this frikkin comment field always puts my signature right into every reply and then continues to write everything as link to my site. workarround is to disable rich-text, delete everything and then switch to rich-text again.
