Leave 50 bucks under the floormat in your car

This is something I learned from my dad.  Don't assume you'll come home with money.  Anything can happen while you're away.  At the airport, on the way home, my father either lost his wallet or someone lifted it.  Either way, he was coming home with no credit cards and no cash.  Not even enough to get the car out of airport parking.  He had to call someone and have them drive the hour to the airport to bring him some money to get home with.  From that day forward, he's always put $50 under the floormat.  At least he knows he can can pay the parking and get some gas if he ever finds himself in that predicament again.

Nice Idea

Oh, what a great idea. Although it has never happened to me like this, I tend to lose things and I have already lost my wallet on an airplane. Thats a pretty good idea. I never thought of this.

I guess if you don't park your car but use a Shuttle or cab you could still put $50 somewhere else in your luggage.

Diversification

I have this habit of diversifying my funds. :)

I always make sure that my money is scattered because just in case something happens in one of these places where your money is kept, not all of them are lost. Also, even when I am going out, I also diversify my funds and the places where I put them, a little in the wallet, a little inside a book, a little in the pocket of my bag, a little in my pocket... IMO, this minimizes the risk of ending up without anything during times that I am unlucky. Well, we just don't know what happens next.
