I love watching travel and house development programs but they are only showing repeats in the UK now; so I am starved of interesting travel programs to watch. Has anyone watched any interesting programs lately?
Are you refering to Travel Channel? They really show a lot of repeats.
One of my fav. shows there is Anthony Bourdain - No Reservations. I am not sure if you are aware of that one, but you should check it out.
Other than that I find there are really good travel shows on History International (mostly related to pyramids and ancient cultures), Discovery Channel and Animal Planet (shows related to Safaris and Wild Animals).
National Geographic Channels shows are usually very good. Explorer is my favorite show.
There are a lot more travel programs. I find Discovery and National Geographic better than Travel Channel in most respects.
Bourdain is not bad, although the last show on Lebanon was really weak. They have made a big deal out of it, since he was there when it all started. But then the show was mostly from his hotel room and pretty boring.
i do watch Bourdain, the last show i watched was his trip to vietnam, i dont think i have seen his visit to Lebanon as yet , the may not have it available in europe as yet.
I just remembered Globe Trekker on National Geographic Channel.
I think I saw an ad the other day that they will have new shows again.
I recently rented the Chile DVD. It was a pretty good show, but I don't like the guy too much. He is not funny and trying too hard. Nevertheless it had some really nice scenes.
Some of history channels shows are pretty good. I actually ordered "The lost city of the Inca's" and the "Death Cult of the Incas" after seing it on TV.
actually i will watch anything that is slightly interesting, i use to love watching discovery channel but they are showing too many american chopper right now. have you been watching taboo.

Yes I have seen that too, but it is not exactly my favorite show. Its one of these things to watch if nothing else is on.
I have a netflix subscription and often I rent old Globe Trekker Episodes or similar Travel programs on DVD. Especially if I am interested in a particular location I find it better to rent the DVD than waiting for anything on TV.
the apollo video store near where i lived closed down last month no one really rents videos anymore, Globe Trekker is by far my favourite to watch i know you dont fine Iain Wright funny but i do i guess you dont get the british joke(is this the same person you were talking about earlier).
Generally I like british humor, but this guy just annoys me.
Here in the US we have online rental stores like netflix.com. I am a subscriber to their services and their selection is very good. I am not sure if you can find them in the UK or if you have something similar. Especially when you are looking for something else but Hollywood blockbusters online rentals really have an edge.
I just found out (http://www.zap2it.com) that there is at least one Globe Trekker Episode a day (sometimes more) between Travel Channel and PBS on my lineup. I have already programmed my DVD recorder. This will give me a nice collection of travel shows to watch at my leisure.
Zap2it is great for finding travel shows. I usually go to travel channel, National Geographic and a bunch others and look at their lineup. I often click on the name of a show (e.g. Explorer on NG) and then I can have it display all show times of all episodes across all channels. There is always a good travel show on and if not I usually have plenty of recordings.

They are both about Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley of the Inca.
I think you have to keep an open mind and look for good shows on channels such as the history channel.
