Living with Terror
I am shocked to read about the new planned terror attack on airplanes in London. I am wondering when this will ever stop. As a traveler I fly a lot and I really don't want to be scared of some insane criminals blowing up the plane each time.
Will this ever stop or is this something we have to live with?
Did we bring this on ourself by the global "war on terror"?
How did the authorities in London find out about all this (thank god they did)?
I cannot believe these things are still happening on such a large scale. Fortunately there is no telling if the plan would have succeeded. I like to believe that they would have been caught at least during execution.
I am not yet sure what effect this will have on my long term travel plans.

Actually they claim that the knew for a while that they were planning to do it but, according to the police here they thought something triggered the terrorist to move up the date of the attacked and that’s the reason that they raid those homes during the night. Everytime something like this happens i feel scared to travel on public transportation.

In that case I am really questioning why they wait until something happens and then all of a sudden go completely nuts with security.
If they knew about the possibility, they should have had measures in place to detect those substances. I guess frightened and paranoid people serve the Government better. In the wake of 9/11 lots of laws have passed that otherwise wouldn't.
something was going to happen, but in fact Nothing really happened they just thought it best to enforce the extra security measures, by not allowing anyone to board with LIquids and had luggage just to be extra safe.
Here is a link that gives a clear idea of what was going to happen and the people involved, its the mirror but sometimes they do get the story very right.link
I am not sure that I trust any media source in this matter. I'd much rather prefer to use my own brain and come up with the right conclusions. Media is too easy to manipulate.
Home Secretary John Reid:
"Sometimes we may have to modify some of our freedoms in the short term in order to prevent their use and abuse by those who oppose our fundamental values and would destroy all of our freedoms in the long term."
This is the thing that really scares me. To what extend will this be used to take away our rights and what is true and what is exaggerated. Liquid explosives are not new and even though the terrorists were arrested, a mass hysteria was deliberately forced by government agencies in order to get people in line.
the claim that they think there are up to 12 possible terroist that are still in the country, if it wasnt the media do you think you would have heard about all this in the first place.
Exactly my point. The media just hypes this whole thing.
We will never know what REALLY happened, also because of the Media!
The Media is the instrument to instigate this whole thing.
