Space Tourism
What do you think about Space Tourism?
To me, the amount of energy spent to lift someone into space will do far too much damage to the Earth and should be used more conservatively. I think Space Tourism is a really stupid idea.

It’s a Fad for rich people, can you imagine you can spend couple seconds in space on Richard Branson space plain for a whapping 250 000 actually that is cheap comparing to the previous cost of 1000000. I am sure it would be nice to be in space looking down on the earth but cost wise it isn’t worth it.

I think it would be really cool to be able to go into space, but I wouldn't pay that kind of money. Since when can you go for 250k? I thougth it costs at least a couple of millions?
Sure it would be pretty awesome to go up there, but my point is that the efforts and amounts of energy it costs to send people up there and the billions and billions it costs to operate the space station could be spent wiser, while research can be done by robots.
I also believe that the Earth cannot take the ecological impact of Space Tourism. While people are buying hybrid cars to safe a view gallons a year in order to save the earth, others are blasting thousands of gallons of fuel (Hydrogen needs to be generated too) into the atmosphere just for a glimpse from up there. I think this is totally wrong and unresponsible towards future generations.
But the worst thing of all is the plan to send people to Mars. Even with all the efforts of NASA directed this way, it won't happen. I recently saw a documentary ond discovery where they showed that it would take a space ship the size of the ISS (international space station) to go to Mars. What an effort and colossal waste of money when it only takes some rocket to send a robot to do (almost) the same job.
