errors

errors

i am getting errors in IE everytime i try and make a link in a post it gives a error and shuts down, also the menu on the left  and the right are over the post comment box ,making it very hard to see.

Thanks

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. What OS is this? W2000 or WXP?

Unfortunately Microsoft has never produced a fully CSS compliant browser. Seems like I will have to make some hotfixes to make it work with IE.

Could you please send me the exact version of IE and your OS so I can test it?

With a "real" browser (FireFox) there are no problems whatsoever, but I have never encountered system crashes with IE before either.

A temp. workaround would be to switch off the WYSIWYG editor ("disable rich-text") and write html code directly.

i am using windows xp and

i am using windows xp and i.e 6.0

this is what i was seeing in I.E it isnt as bad in Firefox only the right side is over the comment box in firefox.

Weird

It doesn't do that for me. Thanks for letting me know. I will have to check some css code over the weekend. If I can't reproduce it, I will ask you to check it again.

This is what it looks like for me:

Maybe I should switch to a fixed width layout. They are easier to control but very ugly on my big screens.

Hotfix

As an intermediate solution I simply switched off the sidebars when someone enters text.

I don't want to devote too much energy into fixing this right now, since I am planning a complete rework of this website. Under the hood I will switch to a more recent version of my system that will also offer a lot more to the users. The Front Page will be completely re-done (like a portal). All of this requires that I will have to work on the theme again.

Hopefully I can fix everything at once. For now this should work just fine.

I have no idea why your browser would crash. My best guess is that you need a new version of Java, but I haven't heard a similar thing from anyone else. Since I will move to a new code base soon, all problems on my side should be fixed then.

Please let me know if this fixed the horrible overlapping problem. It seems to be a problem for users with a low resolution.

Currently I have set up the system, so that the content in the middle has a minimum width. This width is wider for the text box. If the sidebars + the content width are more than your screen resolution there are some problems. I will fix this as soon as I have some spare time.

everything seems fine now ,

everything seems fine now , i have ditched the I.E as it was becomming a bit too annoying ,
