Cruise liner outreak
Has anyone heard in the news today a story has come out that around 180 Australians are among passengers on a luxury cruise liner whose crew are struggling to control an outbreak of the contagious gastrointestinal Norovirus. Some of the more than 2,600 passengers and 1,115 crew on board the Diamond Princess, due to arrive in Sydney after a 16-night cruise from Belgium to Singapore, have been ordered to stay in their cabins, News Limited papers reported.Passengers have been asked not to use public toilets and to wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds after using their own bathrooms. This would be so hard on a cruise ship you have so many people all together out at sea and you can not excape getting the illness.Makes you wonder whether a cruise is always a good idea.

Interesting argument against a cruise. I have heard of such cases before, but usually thats not what comes to mind when one thinks about wether to take a cruise or not.

there was simialr case here in the Uk i am not too sure if it was the same one, but that relly makes you think if having a cruise is a good idea can you imagine being stuck on a ship with lots of sick people.

I have heard of this recently happening here in Australia. It would be worse to have this happen on a cruise as you are in such close contact with people. Im not sure if it would stop me going on one though. But at least if you are travelling on land you have an opportunity to stay away from people if you happen to get sick or you can choose to stay away from others who are sick.

These things are extremely rare. Outbreaks of diseases happen on land too, only you don't hear about it. I would gladly prefer the sanitary facilities on board a cruise liner over some local facilities of the destinations.
