Summer months in Spain

Summer months in Spain

I have been told that the summer months are from June to September in Spain and are the best months to go if I want to visit a lot of beaches. Is this true? My Sister's husband is from Spain and we would love to travel there one day soon with them.

Yep

Yes. It is going to be very hot, but if you are going to visit beaches it is the best time. I would actually say around May may be a bit better.

If you really want to enjoy

If you really want to enjoy nice hot weather in spain go to the south of spain , the weather in the north changes frequently from hot to cold just like in england. the south also has the best beaches.

Nice and hot

Yep, currently they have 38 degC in Merida (aboutt 100 F). I would say this is a little too hot for my taste, although most of the US and Europe is almost as hot at the moment.

I would recommend to visit spain around April to May before it gets really hot.

As the weather is so hot in

As the weather is so hot in Europe currently, i see it pointless going to sunny places such as the Caribbean an Asian as it is extremely hot there now; it is so hot in London now it is ridiculously, i hope winter comes soon.

Yesterday

Yesterday we hit 105 degees Fahrenheit (over 40 degrees Centigrade) here in Northern California. I was going to buy an AC, but all stores were completely sold out. I too can't wait for winter.

May and June...

Hello this is nieves22 from Barcelona.
I reccommend you to go to Spain in May, but I see you say that from June  till Sep.

It depend on where you go. because Spain is a country with a great variety of

areas, I mean, each region is very different(food, people, language(accent),culture and climate etc....)

July and August are too hot, and too many tourists.

Spain

Was in Marbella, Costa del Sol, in March, surely not at the height of the season but it was quite warm...Beautiful place indeed with many beaches, mountains and, of course, the sea. I think August/September is the best time for a visit, if you want to enjoy perfect, not too much hot weather, though, of course, depending of a place you intend to go.

Thanks

Hello Tatyana,

thanks for the information. It's always good to hear first hand info.

By the way: I like your avatar.

You're welcome :) I'm really fond of this country and if you have any questions i would be glad to share the information i have.

Your avatar is also nice :)

Hello,

Hello,

I would suggest to go to Spain in August or the second half of July. September you might have bad weather due to "La gota fría". I would suggest the northern part Galicia and the Mediterranean. I would prevent of driving too much in Spain. Due to low cost airlines, air fares are in bargain. You can check them here - http://www.trabber.co.uk

I you need further information let me know.

I went with a friend the

I went with a friend the last week in September and the first week in October.  It was nice in Seville, but a bit cooler and rainier than we would have liked in Madrid and Granada.  She blamed it on me.  When I was in Europe in the summer of 1993, there was, effectively, no summer at all.  When I went to Prague and Budapest in the first weeks of May, it was out and out cold most days, not springlike at all.  I'm a jinx, I guess.

Best time to go to Barcelona

If you are planning to go to Barcelona also, The best time is late spring. The weather is little warm with temperature around 21-25 degrees. In summer the weather is unbearably hot when temp goes up to 30 degrees. And the humidity is also high in summer.

or you could plant a lot of trees to cover your house under the shade - much better for the enviroment ...

almost freezing my balls of when i walk back from work in nz, i think they even have snow in christchurch.

Autoplan, I guess you are

Autoplan, I guess you are from England.  30C is not 'unbearably hot' to most people.  35C is hot.   I'm in Penang, Malaysia, and the lowest temperature I've seen on the thermometer in my guesthouse is 28C, and that was at 4 am.  It's all what you are used to.

Depends

I can stand 35C in California without a problem (relatively dry), but I am going nuts at 27 in Germany (humid).

Somehow I cannot take humidity very well and I get dizzy and have all sorts of problems with my blood pressure.

I once went to southern Mexico in late April. It was 35 and very humid. I couldn't take it very well.

summer in Spain

If you stay in the water, it will be nice.  I have friends in Spain who warn me that summer is scorching, particularly in certain areas, such as Madrid. It tends to be a dry heat, which may be easier to take than humidity. It is also crowded in summer, so I guess it depnds on your tolerance level for that too.

Sometimes in August, the

Sometimes in August, the temperature reaches 40 degrees in Zaragoza where I used to live...

For the first time in my

For the first time in my life, the continual heat I've been living in is getting to me.  I may break down and get an air-conditioned room.

AC

AC is one of the luxuries I now can't live without. I really cannot take humidity although I don't mind heat as much. An AC will not only cool down the room, but it will also dehumidify the room.

Thats why I don't think much of humidifiers either (swamp coolers).

I think Spain is very hot, but from what I hear it's not that humid (wonder if thats true). In that case I wouldn't mind the heat as much.

hot summer

I say the same thing. The weather is very nice and hot in spain. A lot of informations about spain time I found on the next website: http://www.findatravel.net

I think if you're going for

I think if you're going for a beach holiday the months of June to September are ideal!  Different if you're planning a city holiday with lots of sightseeing - it would be a bit hot for that.

Generally speaking, the further south you go the hotter it gets.  But there's always that lovely blue sea to cool off in ... and the nights will be lovely!
