Capital of Queensland
When travelling to Brisbane, the capital city of Queensland in Australia there are so many good things to see and do, we travel there every twelve months in the September/October school holidays here are a few you might like. We do. A lot of the places have kids in mind as we have four of our own.
Science Centre - George St - Lots of hands on stuff for the kids.
South Bank Parklands - Nice gardens, beside the river, fantastic man made beach for the kids. Lots of restaurants. Maritime museum is in South Bank Parklands
Nuseeum - Next to South Bank Parklands. The exhibits are always changing.
Cith Botanic Gardens - Are next to the Brisbane River. you can hire bikes and explore the gardens, or just stroll and enjoy the beautiful spot right in the city.
Mt Cootha (5km's from city)- The best view of Brisbane city, worth a trip at night as well.
Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary - Bus or ferry trip
City Cat - Travel the Brisbane river by city cat and get a different view of the city. Get a day rover ticket and you can get on and off as many times as you like in the one day.
Australian Woolshed - Ferny Grove (25 mins from City). Nice picnic spot and you can watch a sheep being shorn.
Australia Zoo (Steve Irwin) is just over an hours drive from Brisbane, and is a lot of fun. Seve Irwin is fantastic and the Zoo is such a learning experience.
Stradbroke Island is a beautiful as well and you can spend the day there. It is about a 40 min boat trip to Stradbroke Island.

At Christmas we spent 14 fantastic days on North Stradbroke Island, just off Brisbane. We stayed at Amity Bungalows that are at Amity Point, North Stradbroke Island. It was the most relaxing holiday I have had for a long time. The bungalows are first class on the waterfront with a private jetty. We spent the time laying on the beach, fishing, diving and snorkelling. The snorkelling is wonderful the barrier reef has so much to show. If you ever are thinking of visiting Brisbane it would pay to take a look at the website for Stradbroke Island, You will not be disappointed.http://www.amitybungalows.com.au/ We loved it so much we have booked the same two weeks in January next year.
