I am not a big fan of amusement parks. When I am in the area and have nothing else to do I may decide to go there, but otherwise I don't like them much. This is mainly due to the fact that for every ride you have to stand in line for a long time and then the ride is over in a few minutes. This all boils down to you mostly standing in line while being in such a park.

the 1 minute trill is very good but as you have said andre the long lines are the killer of joy, i try to go to the amusement park that we have here in london on days that are not very busy.

Those are days where most of us are at work and don't have the luxury to go to Disneyland, or where our Children are in school.

During school holidays the parks are always overcrowded. 

When I was a kid, we didn't go on vacation every year, but the years we did go somewhere that had a lot of tourists my parents would schedule vacation for a week or two before school was over.  They'd clear it with the teachers of course, but it was never a problem.  So we avoided some of the summer crowd by going when most kids were still in school.

Now, I avoid "school's out" months for vacation.  I also avoid destinations that are usually overrun with kids.  I'm not a big fan of children (except for my extremely well behaved niece and nephews) because most children tend to be out of control, and the parents of the uncontrolable children usually spend most of their time yelling.  I go on vacation to get away from stress, not to find more of it. :)   

Yeah, I don't like to be surrounded by children either. Its just because they are so noisy and I enjoy a quiet day. I guess it is also because I live in a densely populated area where you are constantly surrounded by the noise of playing children.

On the other hand I always have a lot of stress when I am on vacation. I am a hobby photographer and I am always on the lookout for new subjects and new scenes to shoot. Especially from one hour before sunset to 30 minutes after sunset I won't do anything else. That means I will not go to a restaurant when everyone else does. Since I am sometimes stuck in the middle of nowhere until after dusk, I have to get out of there to my hotel. Often times it is close to midnight when all restaurants are closed. When I am on vacation I often only eat fast food

When we go to a place, we know what's in there. If you're not a big fan of children don't go to amusement parks, playgrounds and the like. Otherwise, going there would create unpleasant situations and feelings. However, if you like to experience a certain place and if you find the kids tolerable to you, then Disneyland and other parks would be good for you. I, myself would love to go to places like those.

I figure that I will have children one day and then I can go to all these places anyways. For me the whole world is one big disneyland. I am walking around with my eyes wide open marveling at the beauty of the world, just like a kid in a candy store. My greatest pleasure is to travel to foreign places.

I have visited Disnyeland with my girlfriend and I adore it even though I am not a kid anymore
