I will go for Bamburgh castle which is located in the northern region of England it is situated right in front of Bamburgh beach the view from the beach is the most beautiful view you ever see from a beach. Bamburgh Castle
The most famous one is defenitely Neuschwanstein:
You have probably seen it in advertisements before.
It was built by Ludwig II of Bavaria and is located in Bavaria (makes sense, duh).
It lays near Schwangau.

I forgot the Pillnitz Castle. I have written about it before in the main section in the article on Dresden:

I have been in Koenigstein too:
I linked this picture from http://www.parkcafe-pillnitz.de. I hope that by providing a backlink the creators of that site are fine with it. If not I will remove it.

Really? France is selling off their national treasures?
How much would a castle like this run for and how much to maintain it? If I had as much money as gates, I'd go for it.

Yes they are being sold off, they are more of a burden, as they take lots of money to maintain, there are lots of british people going over there to own there own castle they go for anything over £500000. you dont need to be bill gates to own one, £500000 is the average price for a house in london. if you want to have a look at one for sale if you are interested. have a look

To me that is equally far out of reach. It doesn't matter if it is 1Mio Euros or 100Mio Euros. I can't afford either of them. I am not sure I would want them either. I guess they are a money pit. You'd probably have to consider spending quite an amount on maintanance.
So unless I make it big, I wouldn't buy them. Nice thought though.

Thats one of the reasons why i guess they are being sold off they cost a lot to maintain, it would be good though to convert into a hotel or something that would be able to generate money to help to reduce the cost of maintaining the building.

Now if you give it that kind of spin it starts to sound interesting again.
You could offer some sort of adventure hotel, with
And instead of suites you have little throne rooms.
I guess a hotel like that could become quite famous and attract a lot of wealthy people that can finally leave all manners at home for the right price.

We dont have any castle's in Australia. Which is a shame. But I have seen Bamburgh Castle. It was only a quick visit as my husband has an Aunty who lives in Northumberland. I would love to one day explore the many castle's London has. We are hoping to visit relatives again in two years for a longer holiday so maybe then I can see a bit more.
Not many around here either, except Hearst Castle but I must admit I have never been at Hearst Castle either. Although I tried once but they were sold out. You have to book in advance.
Hearst Castle was built in the early 20th century by media mogul Wiliam Randalf Hearst overlooking the rugged California Coast near San Simeon (north of Santa Barbara).

i never thought the united states had any castles could you please add some photos of Hearst Castle Andre.
I would check out the castle in Heidelberg! It is by far my favorite. The castle overlooks the Neckar river and has an amazing view, especially at night. In it is the largest wooden barrel of wine in the world! There is also a lot of interesting history behind the castle...its definitely worth checking out!
Heidelberg is the one that is a ruin, isn't it? I loved it, and I would definitely list it as one of my favorites. I wasn't paying attention, though, and only after I walked back down did I realize there was a concert being held that night, in the ruins of the castle. That would have been amazing, but I didn't have the energy to walk back up.
I'm a big fan of Tudor history, so when I went to visit my sister in England, one thing that I desperately wanted to see was Heever Castle, Anne Boleyn's girlhood home. It did not disappoint. I had such a fantastic times wandering the halls that Anne herself might have wandered as a young girl. And the gardens were amazing. I'd love to go back there someday.
I have stayed in many castles in Germany. My favorite is called Auf Schoenburg which is in Rudesheim on the Rhine. It felt like we were stepping back to the Middle Ages.
