I've always wanted to go to New England

So, what are the best tourist places in the New England states?  Usually our traveling has been in the south.  Thats where my husband's and my families are from so we generally go to see relatives.  I'd love to go on a vacation to somewhere that I don't know anyone and that covers most of the New England states.

LOL. Me too. I will be in

LOL. Me too. I will be in the area in 2 month and I will have to do some research soon. I'd be more than happy to share my results.

Now I'm disappointed... I was beginning to think you'd been absolutely everywhere LOL.  Seriously though, I'm a little surprised to hear that this will be your first trip to New England.  Take lots of pictures and take lots of notes so you can give a complete report, I'll look forward to it.

Hehe

Well I have been to some places. 95% of what I write here is from experience. The other 5% is from research I have done about places that I want to visit in the future. I haven't done any research on NE yet. I usually buy books and read up on a lot of things.

My visits to Connecticut

Hello everyone, this is my first post here so I am just learning my way around. A couple years ago the job I had required me to travel to Connecticut. It is a beautiful state. I have to say that I was surprised as I didnt expect there to be so many wooded areas. I did some work on an aquaculture/greenhouse at the Sound School on the coast near New Haven. I didnt really get a lot of free time to actually enjoy my visit as much as I would have liked to while I was there, but I did take loads and loads of pictures with my digital camera. Hopefully I will share some of then with forum members soon.

Thanks

Oh hey, welcome to the OTI forum and thanks for bumping this thread back up, since I now have a few things to say about New England too (filling in the gaps).

Interesting. I actually had the same impression. I guess all those movies are painting a completely wrong picture. But then again I have seen mostly the populated south around Yale.

I really liked Boston (Massachusetts). Maybe I will write an article about this wonderful city. We also visited the Mayflower II and Plymouth plantation (a replica of the first settlement with actors). I just remembered that i posted some pictures in this thread.

Here is one of the pictures I took while I was in New Haven. This was taken at the Sound School. I have a lot more pictures somewhere around here, I will have to find them so I can show some better ones.

New Haven Connecticut

Boston, and some of the

Boston, and some of the suburbs are great.  Concord and Lexington are especially pretty towns, and you can go swimming in Walden Pond.  Go down to Newport Rhode Island as a day trip and visit the old summer 'cottages' of the very rich.  Go to Salem to learn about witches and see The House of Seven Gables.

The coast north of Boston is beautiful, but most of the towns that I used to like are now jam-packed with tourists.  Maybe it would be better to go up to the New Hampshire coast or into Maine.  It's not as far as it my look on a map.  New England states are tiny things.

I remember the beautiful yacht harbor of Newport and the old court building (i think that's what it was). For some reason I never uploaded those pictures to my site.

Massachusetts isn't that small either.  Unfortunately I never made it North of Boston. Maybe next time. I photographed a bunch of lighthouses along the entire south and southeast coast of New England. There were some really funny looking ones. It was a great place, unfortunately I didn't have much time.
