About Philippines

About Philippines

I live in this beautiful country. But just like the rest of the world, it has also its problems. Though I will only cite here the good things that can be seen in my country.

There are many international airports where you can access the Philippines. I think there are 4 major airports: Manila, Olongapo, Cebu, and Davao.

When you arrive through Manila, which is the main airport of the Philippines, you can visit the places like Boracay with its white sand beaches(this is often the first spot where tourists go in our country). Then you can visit the Mayon Volcano with its perfect-cone shaped.

If you land on Olongapo airport, you can go directly to the summer capital of the Philippines, Baguio City and see the many flowers that it has to offer. Near Baguio is the province of Ifugao wherein the rice terraces can be found, these are man-made terraces without any help of machines.

I guess for those who serve the US military and are based in Clarck Air Base, which is in Olongapo City, they know what happened in that area when the Mount Pinatubo erupted. Even though it devastated most of the provinces within the range of the volcano(the ash even scattered around the globe), the dried mud had been used as a healing therapy now. You will be buried in the sand for an hour for its healing effects to work, I guess because of the hotness of the sand.

Cebu and Davao are the southern parts of the country. I have not known much of the places to visit there but the people there are really beautiful. For me, the most beautiful ladies that the Philippines can offer are found in the south of the Philippines.

Before leaving there, you must have a taste of the smelly fruit DURIAN. It really smells bad but it has the best nutrition among all fruits.

That's only a knowledge of one person, you have a visit here to really see and feel for yourself the beauty of my country.

Cool

Thanks for the good info. When would be the best time for me to go there?

Cebu City

Thanks to Andre, my kababayan, for writing about the Philippines, which happens to be my country, too.

He has not talked much about Cebu but definitely he's right in saying that the most beautiful ladies in the Philippines are found in the southern part of the Philippines (and that includes me , ha ha , just kidding).  I will give a little background of Cebu City, the place where I come from.  In this place, you can find some Chinese temples in Beverly Hills, located near the center of Cebu City.  In the heart of this city, is the Sto. Nino Church with the Magellan's Cross.  History tells us that this was the cross that the Portuguese explorer who discovered the Philippines, Ferdinand Magellan, planted to signify an important event of marking the beginning of Christianity in the country and this event paved the road to our country's colonization.  Near this church is the Fort San Pedro, very historical, too, as it is the place where battle took place and the home of the Filipinos to defend themselves.

These are just few of the places which you can visit Cebu.  You may go to the Philippines anytime during the year as the season is just the same.  In Cebu, I suggest you go there during Sinulog, where we have a street dancing contest in honor of our patron saint, Senor Sto. Nino. Everybody is invited to visit our country and witness the hospitable people there.
