Duty free at heathrow
Don't do it!!! If you are travelling to SE Asia do not bother with the rip-off joint that is called duty free. On arrival at Changi, Singapore you can buy your booze as you leave immigration, usually cheaper. But the bargain has to be Langkawi in Malaysia. Last year I bought a litre of Gordons gin at KL Int.Airport for about £6.50.(Well pleased.) This year in the duty free island of Langkawi, I paid £3.20 (22 ringgit). Even better pleased.

Its always better to buy your items at poor countries i fine that they normally sell the items a bit cheaper.
Vacation
Well, the items that you buy in the duty free shop are at least original. If you buy the same brand in a poor country, you can almost be certain to buy a poor quality rip off of the original. Some people may not even know the difference.

i know most of the smaller countries are well known to sell Fake items but i dont think they are bold enough to sell them within the airport.
Travel to the beach
I guess I misinterpreted your post. I assumed you meant to buy the things outside the airport in those countries. I have noticed that this is even cheaper than duty free.

We spent two weeks in Fiji last year. After booking our flights we wanted to see what we could get Duty Free but Newcastle now has no Duty free shops to buy from. We have to go to Sydney now if we want to do any Duty Free Shopping. Wonder is it worth it? I have travelled a little but have not had much experience with Duty Free.
