Royal Porto Real - Hotel in Playa del Carmen

Royal Porto Real - Hotel in Playa del Carmen

Royal Porto Real Hotel

During my last visit to Playa del Carmen I had the pleasure of staying in the Royal Porto Real Hotel for 3 nights, as my own Hotel was booked full. I have to say I have not expected this kind of luxury in Playa del Carmen. If you are ever in the Area looking for an all inclusive Hotel, you should really consider this one.

When we first entered our room, we were stunned by the amount of luxury. The room was a Spa Suite:

The hotel featured an Asian Restaurant, An Italian-Mexican Restaurant a Caribbean Restaurant and a general Restaurant. They also have a number of bars. Since this was our first (and maybe last) time in an all inclusive hotel, we did not know what to expect.

We tried the Italian-Mexican Restaurant first, but the food was so over the top, that we got really confused about how to behave. All menus had prices on them, so at first we thought we would have to pay for that lunch. The food came on a huge platter and was arranged as if you were in a 5-star restaurant, but it was very little. The Caribbean Restaurant is very good too. They have excellent steaks there. The general Restaurant (spices) features a truly excellent buffet. This is also where we went for breakfast most of the time.

The bars are pretty good too. They even have a pool bar:

Overall the hotel left a very good expression. The only downside was the construction noise, as Playa was still recovering from last years hurricane season.

Here is a satellite view of the hotel (somewhat outdated I guess, looks more like a construction site):

This hotel is awesome!

This hotel is awesome! Where is it located and how much should I prepare for the stay there? It would really be a once in a lifetime experience, that's just for me. Someday when I would be rich like Bill Gates(just keep on dreaming), I would definitely have a visit here.

I really wouldn't know

I really wouldn't know since I was upgraded from another hotel for free.

The regular price for my room was somewhere between $300-$400/night, but noone ever pays that.

The way the ordinary joe gets into this Hotel is by booking a package deal (air + hotel). If you do the math, you are probably getting away with $140/night in a package deal. Hard to say, as I didn't pay for that one.

Playa del Carmen is in Mexico (Caribbean) about one hour south of Cancun. It is much nicer than Cancun though.
