caribbean country

whats the best caribbean country you have been to and what did you most enjoy while being there.

Mexico

For me that would be Mexico (because I haven't been anywhere else in the caribbean I guess). I loved it for the ancient Mayan Ruins that can be found throughout Mexico, Guatemala, Belize and El Salvador.

When you stand in awe in front of the giant Pyramid of Chichen Itza and imagine that this was built over 1000 years ago, you cannot help but admire the ingenious Mayan People for those accomplishments. It is impossible to imagine 1000 years.

The beaches of Playa del Carmen and Cancun are first class too and there is a lot of good entertainment, good food and the weather is phenomenal.

Here are 2 articles I wrote about the caribbean:

Cancun to Tulum

Changing Rivera Maya

Just by the look of your introduction about Mexico, I would be definitely inspired to read your article, Andre.

You are not only an engineer, but an artist and a writer as well.  I came to like being in Mexico because of the informative and awesome way you have described it.  The way you described the Mayan People who built the giant Pyramid of Chichen Itza, it made me remember our very own Banaue Rice Terraces (Benguet, Philippines) which was made by the Ifugao folks also about a thousand years ago.  It is like a stairway to heaven and one couldn't imagine how the natives were able to build it.  Indeed, people will always have a way to reach a goal if they really work for it.

Thanks Helen,I agree, those

I think Cuba is fabulour.

I think Cuba is fabulour. It is poor, fairly untourisity and has a little somethng that no other country has, It's just very different from other Caribbean Countries. It has very poor but friendly people, old buildings and fantastic scenery and beaches. The history in Cuba is very interesting.

Honduras / Guatemala

I would also like to visit Honduras and Guatemala (maybe together with Belize). They have phantastic Mayan sites and some untouched rainforests. It would be a photographers heaven I guess.

Jamaica

For anyone interested in visiting to Jamaica for vacation I would first suggest that you not spend the ridiculous amount for all-inclusives, even though they tell you about the great savings. who is really going to eat and drink that much? Come on, and then you have to pay crazy amounts for the activities they offer. I suggest a nice bed & breakfast or hostel. There are pretty nice ones in the Ochi Rios area. I personally stayed at Paradise Jamaica (you can search for it online) and it was really nice. I mean nothing will really compare to thebig hotels, but when you are going on vacation you just want somewhere nice and comfortable to fall asleep. You will save sooooooo much by going this route, and have a chance to really experience what Jamaica has to offer, rather than the fakeness and pretending that goes on in some of those big hotels.
