Prats De Mollo La preste

Prats De Mollo La preste

Let me tell you people about a beautiful little medieval village down the south of france and 10 km off the spanish border....it's a little jewel that seems to be lost in the middle of nowhere, we are about 900m high but the second part of the village 'la preste' where the thermal services are is at about 1200m.

This village realy seems to be lost in time..the older catalans (as we are in the catalunya part of the pyrenees) still talk catalan as a lingo and walk down with their washing everyday to do it next to the river the 'old' way..they have their culture and dances they are very proud of and every february they celebrate 'la fete de l'ours' (the Bear celebration) where a man of the village will dress up in a bear's skin and paint himself with charkoal , then will go running round the village with everyone chasing him...his point is to catch the girls..to paint their face black and to lay them down on the ground...

It's a beautiful green place with lovely weather too as we are only 60 km off the mediterranean sea.....

here are some pictures who often say far more than words....

Wow

I had no idea places like this still existed in Europe.

Would you be so kind to tell us the Name of the Town?

EDIT: I just realized the title. Is that the Name?

From the looks of it and from your description it sounds very charming.

You haven't been to Europe for a long time

You can find places like this in Portugal, Scotland, Poland, well -to keep it short- in almost any European country.

I hope they would maintain

I hope they would maintain those kinds of structures and not let innovation takes place. I, personally, would like my children to still see the past through the infrastructures of old. Words cannot describe the things that are built in the past. If they can see it themselves, they would value it and may still preserve for the next generation.

yes the place is realy beautiful

yes the place is realy beautiful and they have kept it that way. I too hate the way that some places modernise their structures!! oh geez they ruin everything when they do that. But many lovely places still exist and will for a long time i'm sure
