Hi

Hi

Sorry, I'm new to the site and didn't realize I was supposed to introduce myself.   I'm Karen and I live in PA.  I love to travel (so who doesn't, right?)  I'm fortunate enough to be married to a man whose employer takes great pleasure in sponsoring trips for its employees AND THEIR SPOUSES (yay, me!!) to wonderful places.  We have been to Guatemala, Brazil and just recently, Peru.  Machu Picchu was breathtaking.  My husband and I lagged behind everyone at the end of the day and spent the last few moments in the amazing solitude overlooking the ruins.  The only sounds were the wind whistleing through the mountain peaks and the birds songs!

At one point or another in my life, I have also been to Germany, Austria, Northern Ireland, London, Switzerland and Venice, Italy.   This Fall, my husband and I are taking the trip I've always dreamed of, 2 weeks in Italy!   I can't wait.   I really enjoy the articles, comments and advice I've found here.   I'll stop now, since I seem to be going on and on....

Hello

Hi Karen,

thanks for introducing yourself. You are very lucky. What company is your husband working for? Sounds like a good place to be

No need to be sorry about anything. We do not require introductions but we appreciate them.

Hi Karen

Nice to meet you!

How lucky you are. I went to Peru last December and I wrote the articles about it. Machu Picchu was the highlight of the entire trip. What an amazing place. I have never seen anything like it in my life. Good to meet someone who has made the same experience.

It almost sounds like you went there with an organized tour? Did you do the Inca Trail?

Machu Picchu was quite expensive but well worth the money. I'd gladly pay it over and over again for a chance to go back.

I have a 222 Megapixel Image of Machu Picchu here. You can zoom in and pan around. Its a lot of fun for me to do this virtual tour over and over again.

Hi Andre

Yes, I am VERY lucky!   Before our trip, I read your articles and looked at your pictures.  They were great and very informative.  We saw and experienced many of the things you wrote about.  Machu Picchu was definitely the highlight, but we enjoyed all of the trip.   Unfortunately, we did not do the Inca Trail.   We rode up from Puno to Cuzco on the Andean Explorer (a great experience) and from Cuzco we took the Hiram Bingham Train to Machu Picchu.  We were there with a tour company, but I don't know which one.  The trip was organized by my husband's company, an up and coming residential builder here in the Northeast.

Hi Karen

Welcome to the travel forum

I bet you liked  Peru. I have also been to all the interesting places like Machu Picchu and Lago Titicaca. The Inca Trail can be pretty much exhausting so I did not do it either

Haha

Seems like we all whimped out on the Inca Trail. I had read so many stories about it, that I decided not to go for it. Turns out I had no problem with the altitude and Machu Picchu isn't that high anyways (compared to other places). But I did not know if I would have a problem or not.

I envy you for taking the Hiram Bingham Train. I saw the prices. I must say your hubby should hold on to his chair really good !
