Uruguay for Retiring, Investing, or Just Good Living
Uruguay seen as a future retiring destination? (According to some ads I've seen)
"It contains one of South America's most interesting capitals, charming colonial towns, the hilly interior (true gaucho country) and a cluster of internationally renowned beach resorts."
Seems to be a little exaggerated...

Don't know. I have heard the same of Ecuador. Cheap Lands, from Sea to Mountains, Jungle and Desert, everything is there. The Dollar is still worth something in Ecuador and the housing market is booming and expected to grow. Lots of people are retiring here, but you have to be aware of the fact, that in a country in South America there can always be political changes. Some of those tend to dispossess foreigners. Then you would be left with nothing, after a communist government took your belongings. Or you become a target of some paramilitary group.
I think the risk in Ecuador and possibly Uruguay is very small. To be honest I have considered this a good option already. Just didn't want to write online until I secured my stake.![]()

Hm. Sounds pretty cool though. I never considered this.
If I can go to America, I will try to go to Uruguay coz the terms ' charming colonial towns, hilly interior, internationally renowned beach resorts... really caught my attention...
Good choice. I like South America.
I don't know anything about Uraguay, but I always thought it was expensive compared to Argentina. I'd never heard of it as a retirement destination. I'll put it on my mental list of places to consider.
Uruguay is pretty similar to Argentina, it is definitely not expensive. And it is economically and politically more stable than Argentina, so not too bad for a retirement destination.
I did know it was one of the more stable and prosperous countries, so I guess I assumed it would be a lot more expensive. It has a big beach resort that people from BA go to, doesn't it? How expensive is that?
