skiing in Victoria
Victoria has nine ski resorts, all wintin easy reach of Melbourne. There is a range of accommodation in each of the large resorts but booking, naturally, is necessary in the high season. In every case a package tour of the snowfields is less expensive than buying the components separately. Check on what prices include, because we found they can be better value than they at first appear The best value is almost certainly one of the various midweek packages which generally include five nights accommodaton, lift passes and some meals, which can run to just over 100 dollars a day. We are leaving for Victoria next Friday. It is the first time we have gone in Summer and not winter so I am looking forward to see the difference.

What would you say is the best time for skiing there? I usually try to get a good deal by going off season, but the snow should be good.

I think winter is the best time. The official season starts on the first week-end in June. The heaviest snow cover is usually later in the season. Heres a great site for the Victorian snow weather of course it hasn't much on it at the moment because it is still summer here but it is handy when it is in the snow season. http://www.vicsnowreport.com.au/
