Wine Tasting near San Francisco

Wine Tasting near San Francisco

I am going to be in San Francisco for a couple of days. I have heard that one of the things to do is going Wine Tasting.

I am looking for some tips on where to go.

my thoughts

Are you planning to drive or are you taking a bus. I think one of the best things would be to book a tour. After all you are about to drink a lot of different wines (thats the idea isn't it?). You don't have to find your wineries and you can rely on their expertiese. Nevertheless you might want to check out other operators too.

In case you want to drive yourself, you shold also consider a B&B or some other kind of accomodation in the area.

The best wine tasting can be found in Sonoma County and in Napa. I have heard that Buena Vista in Sonoma is one of the top wineries for wine tasting. Castle Vineyards and Winery is located just off the historic square in Downtown Sonoma. It may be a very good choice to combine your wine tasting tour with sightseing.

I am not very familiar with wineries in Napa. You might want to check out Coosecross Cellars or The Hess Collection.

The cost is around $5 - $8 for per person and winery.

Aren't you going to get

Aren't you going to get drunk tasting all those wines around?

I believe it must be a nice experience, though and would want to experience it myself. :)

I guess thats the idea Smile. I have only done it twice, but quite frankly I was happy I didn't have to drive. Even though I am more of a beer person, once you are there its hard not to taste everything.

Price may be reflective on

Price may be reflective on the level of service you expect.

You could always place a posting on Craigslist for a designated driver with a van or go with some level of professional company.

You're not suppose to get

You're not suppose to get drunk, but you do get a good buzz out of wine tasting. Traditionally people are suppose to spit out the wine after tasting it, but most people drink it and most places will hardly ever give a full glass of wine, most likely only a few ounces.

drink water before you

drink water before you taste another. it should prevent you from falling into the spell of wines. LOL. and the best of that is to distinguish to taste in a close rate. especially if you are looking to buy one
