Hey everyone! How's it going? I'm working on behalf of Positively
Cleveland (http://www.positivelycleveland.com) so residents and
travelers are in-the-know about the best of Cleveland, Ohio! I'm
starting this thread as a place to share all the local hotspots with
you, from events to museums to food, the list goes on! We're home to
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Cleveland Browns, and University
Circle. If you're considering a vacation soon, here's the place to get
all your questions about Cleveland answered. And if you're currently

Cleveland Museum of Art will be premiering many eye-opening films
throughout next month. Attendees of Doctoberfest have a chance to see
some of the latest critically acclaimed documentaries covering a

For those of you looking to do something where the kids can join the fun, The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo offers “Boo at the Zoo,” a Halloween event designed for the younger crowd – featuring spooky animal exhibits, magic shows, hay rides, and treats! You can check it out October 16-19 and 23-26 from 5:30 to 8:30 PM.

Some of you might know Cleveland is considered the birth place of
rock-n-roll, but did you know it’s also where Superman was created? The Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage
is taking visitors through an interactive exhibit called Zap! Pow! Bam!
The Superhero: The Golden Age of Comic Books, 1938-1950.
Learn all about the history of classic characters and superheroes, the
role Jewish artists played in their creation and see rare art on
display for the first time!

Starting October 19th and running through January 18th, imagine
yourself at the 1900’s world fair in Paris. The Artistic Luxury exhibit
gives a one-of-a-kind look into the lifestyles of the rich and famous
leading up to the First World War. Early 20th century jewelry and
luxurious creations by legendary designers Carl Fabergé, Louis Comfort
Tiffany and René Lalique will be on display!

Now’s the time to reserve a seat for the Burning River Ghost Tour –
space is limited and tours are selling out quickly. Now in their 10th
year, Haunted Cleveland Ghost Tours will give you a first look into
historic and possibly haunted landmarks like the U.S.S. Cod, Franklin
Castle and The Great Lakes Brewing Company.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame continues its Songwriters to Soundmen series with Vic Flick! Flick has played in-studio with artists like The Beatles and Eric Clapton, but you may know him best as the guitarist for the James Bond theme song. This legendary musician will be speaking in the Fourth Floor Theater on October 15th at 7 PM. Admission is free with reservation!
Also, if you enter the Cleveland Rock and Roll In the Know Sweepstakes, you can win four free tickets to the Rock Hall where the museum’s curator will offer you a private tour!

This Friday at PlayhouseSquare,
funny man David Sedaris shares his take on life through a satirical
lens. Many know him best for books and essays like Me Talk Pretty One
Day and Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim. Catch his show October
10th, 7:30 PM at the Palace Theatre.
Another awesome ‘David’ performing at PlayhouseSquare this month: David
Byrne! Having just finished his first collaboration with Brian Eno in
30 years, he will be playing music from the new album, plus older
Eno/Bryne and Talking Heads songs! The concert takes place October
23rd, 8:00 PM at the Allen Theatre.

The Cleveland Museum of Natural History
along with the American Anthropological Association and the Science
Museum of Minnesota present a public education exhibit entitled RACE:
Are We So Different?
This
deep look into race and racism is examined through scientific,
cultural, biological and historical points of view, designed to provoke
thought and discussion regarding this important topic. For more

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will be hosting World Festival Day,
a free event on Sunday, October 12 from noon to 4 PM. Located at the
Rock Hall's main stage, this will be a musical celebration of ethnic
diversity and tradition. In addition to local vendors selling products
and foods that add to the cultural flavor, entertainment will be
provided by Brazilian, Jamaican, Latino, Native American, Middle
Eastern and Serbian groups - and all cultures and ethnicities will be
honored. This will be an exciting day of music, dance and diversity!

Artist Matthew Ryan Sharp unveiled his latest exhibit “The Approachable Darkness” at the Artchitecture Gallery
earlier this month. From what I’ve seen, his work has a really
cool/gritty/underground vibe. You can catch all 85 pieces of Sharp’s
artwork on display until November 14th. But be sure to make an
appointment during weekdays if you’d like a viewing, or swing by on
Saturday or Sunday between 12 to 4 PM – admission is free!

Original members of Beatlemania join the Cleveland POPS
Orchestra to combine classical and rock elements for a night of your
favorite Beatles songs and more! The Classical Mystery Tour show hits

Those are nice places. I have to admit, after seing Anthony Bourdain trash Cleveland, I didn't really think that there was much to see or do.
I think this puts the City back on my radar map, at least for times when I am passing close by.

Speaking of things to do, the Cleveland Browns are ready for some pro-football action this season, having just beat Super Bowl champs the NY Giants last Monday! And now for their next home game, they are taking on the Baltimore Ravens. The game will be held on November 2nd at the massive Cleveland Browns Stadium, tickets can be purchased through the ticket exchange on the official Browns website.

Inside of Rockefeller Park lies 254 acres of beautiful horticulture and landscaping called the Cleveland Cultural Gardens.
Each garden contains its own cultural theme, and together they tell a
story about the history of twentieth-century America and it’s relation
to the world at large. Just last month, Raj Mohan Gandhi planted a
tree in the India Garden, where an 11-foot bronze statue of his
grandfather Mahatma Gandhi stands. The gardens have been an ongoing
work in progress for decades, as some of them date back to the 1930’s,
while others are just now reaching proposals and planning stages. More
than just the outdoors and cultural history, it’s living-breathing art!

downtown, celebrity chef Michael Symon runs an American-cuisine bistro
named Lola. It’s a popular restaurant located in a hot spot downtown
that offers plenty of unique, quality dishes. Symon also run a stylish
