Harry Potter Theme Park

Harry Potter Theme Park

Has anyone else heard about the theme park that is scheduled to open in Florida in 2009? It will be called the "Wizarding World of Harry Potter", and apparently even J.K. Rowling, who has seen the plans, thinks fans won't be disappointed. Would you visit such a park or would prefer to hang on to your own vision of the books?

Market

I am wondering if that is such a good idea. Although it is probably one of the most read books, the crowd it can draw won't nearly be as big as a Universal or Disney Park (just my opinion).

I'd make a special trip to

I'd make a special trip to Florida to go to a Harry Potter theme park. (And of course, stop by the other popular attractions while I was there.) And I'm wondering if this doesn't bode a more optimistic theme for the last book. I can't imagine kiddies flocking to view a Harry Potter world theme park if Harry is dead...

Harry Potter Theme park

I agree Andre, it doesn't seem like the best marketing strategy, it could have enjoyed years of profits from when the first films came out. It's getting near the tail end now, and with the last back out next month.......

I don't think it signals

I don't think it signals anything about the end of the book...it seems like the park is geared toward providing a Harry Potter-like world, from Hogwarts to other places mentioned in the book.

In any case, I would like to check it out when it opens.

I assume it is going to be

I assume it is going to be in the Orlando area.  Quite a few additional attractions have opened there, from water parks to swim with the dolphins places, and they seem to be doing well.  People used to go to Disney World for a long weekend, or at most a week.  Now people come to the Orlando area and stay ten days to two weeks.  Some tack on a few days at the beach, a day a Busch Gardens in Tampa to ride roller coasters, or go over to Cape Canaveral.

I imaging they will do well if they make a halfway decent attraction.

According to Warner Brothers, it doesn't have much to do with the end of the book. It has to do with fans clamouring for some continuation after the last book, and yes, there will be a Hogwarts in the theme park.

I would take my boys to

I would take my boys to this theme park. I think they will do good with all the attention the books and movies are getting. Kids and adults seem to like everything about this character. I actually just read about this theme park the other day.
