What was the most unique activity you did on your vacation?

This year I deviated from the usual vacations of going to the beach and dedicated an overnight camping geared towARDS the preservation of the Philippine Pawikan (turtles). In the Phils. , people uninformed of the pawikan's function in the environment have hunted and slaughtered them for their shell and skin.

The Ecotour was filled with excitement and games. But the most fun part of it is you get to adopt a turtle and give him a name.

Kids Stuff some would say but these little gestures would serve humanity in the coming years.

Sunrise on Haleakala

The Sunrise on Haleakala (Maui) was spectacular. Getting up at 2am was not, but what can you do (its a long drive up the mountain). The mountain was crowded. Seems like its the thing to do on Maui.

I love the environmental touch of you tour. Unfortunately most people don't care about the environment at all and thats really sad. When you say adopt a turtle, you don't mean taking it home as a pet right? Its just a way to feel responsible isn't it?

Turtle Adoption

Not allowed to take them home (how i wish i can). You pay a certain amount to "adopt" the turtle and it would be used for their welfare during their stay at the Conservation Center.

Maui seems great ! But i think the place would feel like I did not leave my home country.

It would be nice to do some skiing which i've never tried before.

I got an a bus and headed

I got an a bus and headed 2hrs outside of waikki to a get on a boat and go shark diving!  It was great although i still reckon the most dangerous part was getting in and out of the cage, especially in choppy seas!

I admire your courage

I admire your courage nab82ba . I couldn't imagine myself coming face to face with a shark.

Now, that's scary! I

Now, that's scary! I remembered a scene from Jaws because of that (the one where the guy was in a cage and the shark broke it).

That sounds pretty neat. Sharks are some big creatures. Was it like the documentaries where the sharks are charging into the cages.

Traveled to Coorg in South

Traveled to Coorg in South India, where I trekked amongst coffee plantations, visited a Buddhist temple, and took many (very bumpy!) jeep rides to and from the accomodations...a whole new side of India!

i went to this tour of

i went to this tour of haunted buildings in praque once...very interesting and informative because of all the history associated with the buildings.

Wow! That sounds amazing - don't think I'd have the courage to get in the water with sharks!

What did you call the Turtle then?  Sounds pretty fun :)

Shark diving, on the other hand, is the one thing I could never do. I sail all the time, spend a lot of time surfing and scuba diving, but I could never, ever go cage diving. yikes... :S
