I cant say anything against my christmas and new year holidays. although one thing i should recommend is to avoid rush days / hours. supermarkets are just sooooo busy that you can't push your cart comfortably to the parking lot. if you are transporting a car interisland like I did, push yourself to get to the port  as early as possible. expect lines, crowd, and larger vehicles in line.
