Moving to New York , Need Travel Upgrade Tips
I am travelling to the USA for the first time and need help. Am going to be in New York for end of May and would like information on what to see or do.
y friend told me about Empire states building but said that I might have to be in lineup for many hours. Any body been to NYC? Also anybody know how to get upgrades for flying?
Many people have said that all you have to do is dress like you are a business person and then ask for an upgrade. Anybody have any tips.
I also found these tips: http://www.zoobat.com/?p=54 anybody tried these?

The dressing up like a business person and asking for an upgrade is a good way of doing it, but don't get your hopes up.
Other things you may want to visit in NYC include the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Lincoln Center, and Central Park.
Well, you could start by reading the Travel Article I wrote on this very site:

It contains some of the best sights and some more tips (like getting around). I think this should be pretty good to get an overview.

I have been there for only a little more then a day. You can easily spend an entire week in New York and never get tired.
About your questions:
I have booked the ticket to the Empire State building in advance. If you do this, you will be waived past 2 of the 3 waiting lines (security and tickets). You will still have to wait a rather short period of time for the second elevator that takes you all the way to the top. I bought my tickets from my concierge at the Roosevelt Hotel.
I booked my room at the Roosevelt through Priceline at about 50% of the original cost and then upgraded to a nicer room for a modest charge. I think you can always upgrade. New York Hotels are expensive, so I recommend to do the same.

Good advice and articles.
Insofar as the upgrade, the airlines really only upgrade for their own frequent flyer customers. It's almost impossible to get one if you aren't. I just travel in comfortable clothing and relax back in the coach section lol.
There are a lot of good websites you can look at for NYC ... www.nyctalk.com, and others. If you let me know what kinds of things you are interested in I can point you to some others.
so what are the other ways to get a quick upgrade then ?
