The High Atlas, the greatest mountain range of North Africa

Morocco remains a largely unspoilt and undiscovered destination. It has much to commend it - wonderful countryside, historic cities, good food and the ways of life of its peoples, whether it is that of the lowlanders in the city medinas or the Berber nomads in the mountains of the Middle Atlas. It is also a vast country and the best way to explore it properly is with your own driver and car, which gives the flexibility to move from place to place at the pace that suits you. This wonderful trip includes prolonged stays in two fascinating cities, Fes and Marrakesh, in the unique comfort and style of Moroccan maisons d'hotes, traditional houses that have been modernised to the highest standards without sacrificing their charm and beauty (see descriptions overleaf). You will also spend four days walking in the high Atlas, among flowers and goatherds, where you will be the guests of Berber families. Local guides will show you Marrakesh village berber, whilst a mountain guide will escort you on your walks.

been to Morocco many a

been to Morocco many a time, love it, make sure you go to Marrakech and coast between Rabat and Casablanca!

I wouldn't say Morroco is

I wouldn't say Morroco is vast.  One of its charms is that there is so much variety in so little space.  I liked the gorges a lot.  Walking in those tall, narrow canyons was amazing, with the red cliffs looming overhead.  Wasn't that where they filmed Indiana Jones?

Morocco is just wonderful

If you would like to know more about Morocco you have to experience its culture, its people in the imperial cities like Fes there is the international sacred music every year in june and the spiritual festival in the old medina in September, Mekness and Marrakech, the small beautiful town like Asilah in the north west coast of Morcco there is the international cultural and art festival which takes place every August and artists and writer come from all the world, Chefchaouen, Tetouan... and Essaouira in the south coast with its international music festival of Gnaoua ( its a mixture of rythms, Gnaoua music has a great socio-psychological importance, as it is supposed to be In Essaouira the tradition of Gnaoua music dates back to the 16th century). Amazing villages from Tangier to Ouarzazte, Merzouga desert..... I cannot tell you evrything about Morocco on here....I need many years to write and a huge space to show you how Morocco is just wonderful with its culture, its food and its hospitality....

Th wonderful thing in Morocco you can design your own trip with your budget...

You can rent a room in a house with a family and learn how to cook delicious dishes...the real community culture for example. Many travelers came there and just fall in love with this beautiful country full of secrets...and they moved to live there...after buying a house in the old medina..making tourism business...

I was there a long time

I was there a long time ago, at the end of 5 1/2 months camping through Africa on an overland tour.  Our driver arranged for three of us women to go to a traditional bath.  After washing a couple of times, and rinsing by pouring buckets and buckets of water over our heads, we were feeling wonderfully clean.

An old woman who works at the baths came by and offered to scrub each of us down with a rough loofah-like mitt, for a small fee.  I agreed, thinking that a bit of exfoliation would be a good idea.  She lifted my left arm, rubbed a bit, then removed the mitt.  She then reached out and lifted a long strip of dead skin off of my arm.  I was gray.  Very gray, almost black.  She held it up so everyone could see.  It was a bit embarrassing to be seen as so dirty after washing several times.  But my friends hired her to scrub them, as soon as she finished getting me clean.

In spite of my embarrassment, it was a wonderful experience, unlike anything we experience in the West.  It's one of my favorite memories of the entire tirp.

Experience Morocco more and more

Cuisine of Morocco!mmmmmmmm...!

Moroccan cuisine has long been considered as one of the most diversified cuisines in the world. Moroccan food is second best in the world after French food, according to Paula Wolfert, the specialist of Moroccan cuisine. The raison is because of the interaction Morocco with outside world for centuries.
The cuisine of Morocco is a mix of Berber, Moorish, Middle East, Mediterranean, Arab, Andalusian, French and African cuisines.
The cooks in the royal kitchens of Fez, Meknes, Marrakech, Rabat and Tetouan refined Moroccan cuisine over the centuries and created the basis for what is known as Moroccan cuisine today.
Being at the crossroads of many civilizations the cuisine of Morocco has been influenced by the native Berber cuisine, the Arabic Andalusian cuisine; brought by the Moriscos when they left Spain, the Turkish cuisine from the Midle eastern cuisinesbrought by arabs as well as jews cuisine.
The history of Morocco is reflected in its cuisine and its culture.

Moroccan chows in Marrakech food stalls

What I enjoy most on my trips to Marrakech is the FOOD! The Marrakech local cuisines are the best, particularly the ones served in the city square's food stalls.

The best cuisine in Morocco

We cannot say that the best cuisine in Morocco is in Marrakech only. Moroccan cuisine is connected to its history its culture and its diversity. The cuisine of Marrakech is nice as other cuisine of other cities, towns and villages. But we have to make a difference when we are talking about the cuisine of a country between cuisine tourism and cuisine at home. To be honest i prefer the second one. It is the real cuisine of Morocco. How it is beautiful to be with a family from Fez, Asilah, Tetouan, Chefchaouen, Marrakech, Zagora, Taroudant.....and to experience the cooking with women making really different delicious dishes. In Fez for example you cannot find food stalls like you do in Djamaa El fnaa but you will discover a rich cuisine culture in the houses, Riads and apartments managed by a family who cook nice dishes for you and teach you how to cook Moroccan food. If you go to the north of Morocco like Asilah, Tangier, Tetouan and Chefchaouen you will notice the influence of spanish cuisine, culture and language, in Fez, Meknes influenced by Berber, Arab, French and Jews,  Rabat and Casablanca the influence of French, in The Berber atlas mountains the influence of Jews ...in Marrakech the influence of French, arab, jews and Berber, in Essaouira the influence of Berber, jews, portuguese ...

If you spend your holiday staying only in Marrakech you won't experience the real Moroccan culture, cuisine and diversity. It hapaned to many travelers. Morocco it is a country full of contrasts. Luxury hotels are the same everywhere but houses and apartments are not they are the real places where you meet and experience Morocco, its people and its multiculture.
