Is this your website? I am unclear how having your stuff in a database will help you with lost luggage. I have had my luggage "misplaced" a few times and after I saw how some airports handle luggage, I am surprised it doesn't happen more often. The only solid advice is not to check important and irreplacable items anymore.

It puzzles me, how luggage can get lost if I am not even going through a connection flight, but it happens anyways.

never lost any luggage (except when they stole my whole car...) during travels. i always carry the important stuff and laptop in my hand luggage, guess nobody is interested in my 7kg extra-lightweight check-in luggage :)

no brakes you are right about carrying the important stuff with you. Whenever I fly I never check anything that I don't mind loosing. It means you have to carry a little heavier bag with you onto the plane, but it is worth it if only for the peace of mind it gives you.

Thats exactly what I do, carry the important stuff and all the rest is replacable.
