Longest trip?

Longest trip?
What is the longest trip, in terms of time, you have ever taken? I've been away for nearly three years, but I was living and working in South Africa for almost all of that. I was away for two years, but again, I was living and working in Japan for most of the time. I think the longest trips have all been just under a year, either 11 or 11 1/2 months. What about you?

Wow Cindy my longest trip has only been for a month. You are so lucky. Although we do hope to travel to the States later next year and stay for six months.
I think my longest was nine weeks which was an around the world trip for work. We did three of them and that one was the longest. Most were six weeks or so. Hard one to pack for too because each leg of the trip was so different just with weather.
I'm retired now, but I quit work a couple of times to travel. That's why I have very little money for my retirement!
Packing for different climates is hard. If I'm coming to SE Asia, I bring one pair of long pants and one sweater and one long-sleeved T-shirt or shirt. When I go to Central or South America, I have to have more cold-weather clothes and usually have to sacrifice something else.
For travelers, I think polar fleece and micro fleece have to be one of the all time great inventions. No wrinkles, lightweight and dries quickly. It's saved me in many weird climates.
We won't count the year I spent in Prague because although I traveled around a lot in Eastern Europe, I spent most of my time teaching English in the Czech Republic. That leaves a two-month trip around France during which I worked on a few organic farms.
Oh how I envy all of you. My longest trip has been 3 weeks and that was 8 years ago.
