Items allowed into the UK?
As I am not a frequent traveller I have no idea of what and what is not allowed on board a plane and entering the UK.
A family member would like me to take peanut butter and also chip dip in those plastic containers. With all of the strict rules nowadays, can someone please tell me if these are allowed or not?

There should be no problem. Are you planning to put them in your check in luggage or take it with you in the cabin?
In the cabin there are restrictions on the amount of liquids you can take (I guess dip and peanut butter can be seen as such). I would put everything in a plastic bag in the check in bags and you should be fine.

Regulations for your carry on luggage allow you to carry:
Liquids, Foams, Pastes, Gels, Food in containers of no more then 100ml which isn't a whole lot. I suggest you check those things. Put them in a plastic bag and that bag in yet another bag.
Due to the lower pressure in the air, some things tend to leak and you don't want your clothes to get dirty. Also the luggage handlers at the airport aren't exactly gingerly.
