And it has fallen even more.  The pound is now worth $2.05, and the euro $1.38.  I will never see Europe again, I'm afraid.

Tell me about it :(  I live in the UK and do a lot of work for people online - the $ is the main currency I get paid in, so most of the time I'm working for a pittance :(

Still, next year I hope to visit the USA again, and when that happens I'll be glad of the weak exchange rate.

Same here. In a year or two it will be the Europeans going on vacation to the USA :)

The only thing that is keeping us from having a major tourist boom is that we make it so difficult to come here.

 Most Americans aren't even aware that we require visas for a lot of countries that let us in without one.  I got into a big discussion the other day with someone who went on and on about how we should punish other countries that make us get visas by making them get visas.  The man didn't believe me when I told him that while we can go to Singapore or Thailand or Malaysia without visas, we require that they have them. 

 Though the dollar has rebounded since the market 'correction'.

Yep, the dollar is really falling down, because of that i'm glad that i get paid in euros.
