Spam Policy

Forums are a great way to promote a new website. Our forum are very well optimized and we do allow links even for new members. However we are very pro active when it comes to deleting spammy messages.

If you have a website that you feel others should know about, simply put it in your signature and participate in the forum discussion. Others will see that you have useful information from your posts and they will visit your site. I won't delete any useful post.

People who just sign up to drop their url get their post deleted and user account removed.

Some people sign up with two user accounts from the same IP (or even with different IP through proxies) and answer their own questions to drop their URL. Believe me, these things are easy to see through.

I absolutely don't mind if you promote a good website, if you do it the right way (like this). Otherwise you might as well safe yourself and us the time. Your posts won't stick. At the very least I am going to remove your URL.

Answer to some email
Today I received an email from a member asking what happened to their account. I think my answer makes a good reading material for people thinking about promoting their links here:

Every day, I receive a lot of posts that are spam and that get deleted. If I feel that a user is abusing the forum for link building efforts, without actually contributing anything, I will delete his/her post and often ban the account (or delete it entirely).
If you feel that this does not apply to you, please email me your account name and account email and I will re-enable or re-create the account for you.
Posts that I don't tolerate:
- Someone who signs up and just drops some messages about their great and wonderful sites usually gets banned right away. We are a community and not a free advertising platform. If someone has something meaningful to ad to a discussion or if someone wants to start a thread and post some good information, I have nothing against that person having one or two links in their signature or posting a link supporting their article. However I do not like it if someone simply posts in order to get their link shown on our site.
- Post stuffing: If someone replies to a lot of threads without saying anything (usually this reads somewhat like: "Yes, I totally agree, this is so cool" ....) just to get their signature links out, it raises a warning flag. If thats all a person is doing, their account gets banned.
Sorry for the harsh rules, but I am tired of fighting spam and I don't want our visitors to be subject to pages that look like link directories.
I do encourage using links supporting someones post (and yes, you can also link to other sites that are not yours ! ) and I don't mind signature links. I have seen some people creating accounts with a long list of signature links that make reading a post really hard and I have delted those too.
So basically I delete anything that looks like an advertisement.
If you want to advertise your B&B, why not write a little article telling people about all the wonderful sights or things to do in your area. Then when you got them hooked about how nice it is to visit your area, you tell them about your B&B.
The website is made for people and not for search engines. It is also not an advertisement platform, but if you do something more subtle like I mentioned above, people will come and search engines too.
