I once read a book by Bruce Lee. He took his running shoes everywhere he went and he ran everywhere he went. I guess the message is, that it doesn't really matter where you go, you can run everywhere.
If money is no issue to you, I would suggest that a month or so before the competition you start training at higher altitudes. This will effectively increase your red blood cell count. Shortly before the day of the competition (one day or so) you come down from the mountain. The effect won't last long (a few days maybe) but now you will have a better capability to transport oxygen.

Thats a good point, instead of walking the streets, just run them. Unless you like to take it slow, then I dont really have any ideas as I am not a runner.
Well I have seen heard that many athletes train up by mountains. They say that it is challenging going up, and fun going down, yet still a chalenge. Neil Armstrong always trained for his tornaments by biking up and down mountains. So I say that anywhere around mountains or big hills is good.
