Global warming events in China?

A woman and her child walk on a street in Shanghai, China, on Feb. 6, 2007. The highest temperature in Shanghai reached 23.4 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, which broke the corresponding record in the past ten years.

It's too early to state categorically that China is experiencing another "warm winter" this year, but the world's fourth largest economy is definitely suffering the impact of global warming

UN report

The same was true in Europe this winter. I guess its a global phenomenon.

According to the latest UN report on Global Warming its only going to get worse from here on.

The outlook is rather grim, and even if all emissions would be reduced to 0 immediately, it would take hundreds if not thousands of years to reverse the damage.

Unfortunately this is not going to happen. Rapidly developing Nations such as China don't even participate in plans for reducing emissions, so that the global emissions of greenhouse gases will rise faster than ever.

What are the consequences:

Floods in Winter, Droughts in Summer, Hurricanes, Storms

The Amazon Basin (the planets lungs) is slowly drying out. This area hold most of the species and many aren't even known yet. Many of them are expected to go extinct forever. In the meantime Brazil cuts down the rainforest faster than before. Fueled by global demand for rare woods but also by national demand for land (soy bean farming and sugar cane farming).

Sydney is expected to see some of the worst of all. Droughts and record temperatures will become more and more common.

Global warming cannot be stopped anymore. It is estimated that the global economy will have to spend in excess of 60 trillion dollars a year to fight the effects. As usual, poor countries will not be able to afford this.

Somehow China manages to pollute the air so that it can be seen from space (pictures from 2004):

The scale of this huge cloud is frightening. Beijing has disappeared underneath that cloud.
