Hello From Spain
Hi all
What a great site this is.
I'm English but have lived on the Costa Blanca in Spain for over 20 years. I love travelling throughout Spain, and also the rest of Europe when time and money permits. Have never been further afield though. Am sure the articles and information on this site will tempt me to remedy that!

One nice thing about the big world out there is that a lot of places are much less expensive than Europe. The next time you think you have enough money for a European trip, look at SouthEast Asia or other lower-cost destinations. And welcome! I hope we are an inspiration!
Thanks for the welcome Cindy. And, you're right ... it's wrong to get "stuck" in Europe. Shall have to read what members of the forums have to say about South East Asia!
Hello Juna and welcome on bo(a)rd.
I am pretty sure that you can travel cheap in Europe too if you backpack and stay in Hostels instead of expensive hotels.
There are plenty of opportunities for cheap travel and you won't have to pay as much for airline tickets, so that should give you some more spending money.
Europe is becoming a favorite Travel Destination for many.
Check out Eastern Europe (Croatia for instance).
From Spain you could also explore northern Africa (Morocco and Tunisia come to mind).
Or how about a Safari somewhere in Africa?
England should be on your list too.

I just thought that since she lives in Spain and has been traveling in Europe, she might like to branch out a little.
Another area to consider is Latin America. Iberia has some of the cheapest flights to Central and South America.
South America might be good, since they also speak Spanish (except Brazil and the Guayanas). I have recently discovered that there is so much in my own backyard (Northern California) that it will still take quite a while to see and photograph everything. So if her budget is limited she could explore Europe a little more and otherwise South America or if she is adventurous visit Asia. (I saw Anthony Bourdain in Asia yesterday and it was mildly scary).

Gosh! It really looks as though I'm going to have my work cut out finding the money to visit all these wonderful places! I must say that both Asia and South/Central America appeal to me tremendously. I already know a fair amount about England as I was born there - but have spent the last 20 years in Spain. Better go and see if I can earn a bit of money ...
Never been to spain, I would love to go though! How is it this time of year? There are alot of places I would like to visit but the money is one problem.
In summer, Spain is very busy on the costas - particularly the Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca. It's also hot there - but you have the sea to cool you off. You can escape the heat by going up north - where there are some wonderful places to visit. If money is a problem summer may not be the time to go. But, out of season you can get bargains. Either look for good package deals, or check out cheap accommodation at hostelbookers. If you have to buy your own meals, look around for a small restaurant advertising a reasonably-priced "menú del día". With a bit of luck, and depending on the area, you should be able to get a three-course meal for 10 euros or under.
Enjoy your journeys in Spain!
I think I will be heading to Spain in a few months, I cant decide between Asia and Spain, I could allways do both. Thanks for the info!
