GG and Lincoln Parks

PagodaPagodaThese two parks cover a huge area and are packed with sights. The parks are popular getaways from the bustling and hectic city.

The Golden Gate Park is about 3 miles (nearly 5km) long and 1 mile (1.6km) wide. Within its boundaries are an amazing number of cultural attractions and sports activities.

The most interesting attractions for tourists are the Japanese Tea Garden, de Young Museum, Conservatory of Flowers, Strybing Arboretum, Stow Lake, and the Dutch Windmill.

Japanese Tea Garden with its beautifully tended plants, lakes, and pagodas is usually crawling with visitors cramming into the small garden. Nevertheless, I recommend seeing it when you are in Golden Gate Park.

De Young Museum displays a broad range of American and pre-Columbian art.

Hobby gardeners and plant lovers alike should check out the Conservatory of Flowers and the Strybing Arboretum.
Spend a relaxing afternoon boating on Stow Lake or visit the island in the center of lake, housing a Chinese pavilion, a gift from the city of Taipei (Taiwan).

Round off your visit with a short detour to the Dutch Windmill before getting to the shore for a beach stroll.
