If you want a unique experience and once-in-a-lifetime moment on your holiday to Australia, you must visit Australia Zoo.
The Crocodile Hunter's Australia Zoo is on Queensland's beautiful Sunshine Coast. An easy one hour drive, just north of Brisbane, Australia Zoo offers a full day of wildlife action and adventure.

Australia Zoo burst into action in 1992 when the Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin and his wife Terri took over management of the zoo.
Formally known as the Beerwah Reptile Park, which opened in 1970 by Steve's parents Bob and Lyn, it was a place where rogue crocodiles were rescued and rehabilitated wildlife called home.
Australia Zoo has gone from strength to strength becoming a global attraction offering the ultimate day out. You can get up close and personal to the gorgeous wildlife and check out the spectacular Wildlife Warriors show in the world famous Australia Zoo Crocosseum!

Cuddle a koala, feed the elephants, see the tigers play, have a snake slither up to you, watch a crocodile launch itself from the waters edge, take a tour of the world's largest wildlife hospital.

Australia Zoo is home to a whole stack of gorgeous mammals including wombats, kangaroos, echidnas, tigers, elephants, lemurs, cheetahs and more.
With large luscious rainforest aviaries and beautiful wetlands, Australia Zoo houses a variety of native and exotic parrots, ratites, pitas and much more they also house a whole stack of gorgeous reptiles.

Australia Zoo is now over 70 acres in size and they are continually expanding and increasing their exhibits, making your day out full of fun and excitement.  See Tiger Temple where five gorgeous tigers live and play, and hand feed the beautiful big girls, the Asian Elephants at the new Elephantasia.
At Australia Zoo you even have the opportunity to have your very own intimate animal experience! You can feed the Giant tortoises or gorgeous wombats and walk with the Tassie devils or the cheeky dingoes. There is even the chance to book a walk with the amazing tigers or cheetah.

Although Steve Irwin Died on September 4 2006, His spirit still lives on through the Australian Zoo.
Towards the back side of the main stadium there is a memorial to Steve Irwin where all of the tribute items have been kept and are on display to the public. Take some time to have a look around and you will see that Steve has touched a lot of hearts.

For anyone planning a day at Australia Zoo it is definitely worth while and value for money. Apart from the croc show there are huge amount of things to see and do including - feed the elephants, visit the tiger enclosure, get a photo with a snake / koala or wander around the wildlife complex.

Our day at Australia Zoo was something we had been looking forward to for quite a long time and the day exceeded our expectations. Get there early to see the crocodile feeding demonstrations. The zoo grounds are huge, bigger than we expected.

We stayed at Noosa at the Outrigger Beach Resort http://www.totaltravel.com.au/link.asp?fid=568995
